PETITION: Regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV Steam Version (Mar. 8)

For those that are unaware SE updated their original post on the matter stating that this will be implemented on the 29th of August.

I'm not very impressed with the total lack of communication regarding this matter. It's a substantial change that affects a portion of the population and the original announcement came out roughly 2 weeks before the proposed implementation. Then they delay it due to bugs, not an unreasonable move but now they update their forum post - no email notification - with very little fanfare and there are going to be many people who simply won't see it and try to open the game at the end of the month with a host of errors they have no idea how to deal with.

Adding my name to this. I also tossed an angry post in the Technical forums. I am livid right now. I made the mistake of downloading the demo from Steam and have forever been locked into it. I would gladly do anything to be free of steam and able to purchase the game like any normal FF14 player who never made the mistake of touching Steam.

Steam is already a pain, I only use it for Final Fantasy.
Very disappointed, if you are going to do this, then let steam users switch to the standard PC versions without having to purchase it.

SE should have told us about it with more visibility. Also, with how the changes this measure will imply upon steam users.

We're up to 49 pages now and I can see it's been bought up multiple times in the "Letter from the Producer LIVE 53: Ask Your Shadowbringers Questions!" thread for the Live Letter happening in 5 days.

Will we actually get any sort of answer on changing our accounts to non-Steam/stopping this from happening... or will we continue to be ignored?

I'm actually pretty confused on this, can folks explain? I have the steam version and always launch it through steam. So far I have never had an issue doing this, my steam is always online. Is there something coming that requires me to go through another authorisation check, or will my situation not change since I already go through steams check anyway. Furthermore, I assume that if nothing will be changing on my end that this is the issue that folks have? As in they don't like launching/using steam?

Slightly worried that there's something I'm missing and that it'll change for me.

Magic 8 ball says "not a chance". Having said that people should like the relevant posts in the live letter thread to attempt to get traction.

In all seriousness I'm not expecting them to answer any questions regarding this issue. I'm also expecting my ping to go from an nice 150ms to 800+ on the 29th and they stupidly route all PAL cd-key users through EU based auth servers. I'm not being pessimistic about this for no reason, a number of other MMOs have introduced measures against both fraud and ddos which have resulted in Australian players being routed the long way around to the servers and unlike those others games FFXIV has region locked cd-keys, making it more likely in my opinion.
