We're talking about how they hold a weapon when idle, not making everyone androgynous. I'd rather players have more options to express what they want their character to be rather than restrictions for restrictions sake. Besides, we already have three foot tall bikini tanks and giant kermit the f'n frogs, legitimate choices can hardly affect your sense of immersion in the face of that.

Small things like this lead to androgyny. We've already had and will probably continue to have threads demanding removing the 'genderlock' and 'classlock' on gear, this just adds to it. You start relenting on the small stuff and more people will push for the larger stuff.

yeah its kinda the problem people read one thing in the title and flip out
sure it could have been worded better

    but its a reasonable request
the only weird one would be RDM since its already super similar to each other

I'd be ok with this... but it's just a pose.

It's hilarious to think about uniqueness as being represented by something so utterly mundane as how your character stands or holds their weapons. I rest my greatsword behind me, as opposed to in front of me... How... unique.

I mean, in a literal sense, you're right. Females have a pose that males don't have and viceversa but this being used as a form of uniqueness seems... well, sad.

I would say that, ideally, uniqueness would come from the player's creative sense and how they choose to style their character, as opposed to arbitrary restrictions on how you sit or stand.

It's the same as the argument for taking job restrictions off gear; sure it might be weird seeing a BRD in tank gear or something, but if you can believe it, it doesn't mean everyone will just wear the same stuff. They'll just have more to choose from.
So you'd be okay with a male character wearing the fairy tale princess dress and a female character wearing a subligar while topless? I wouldn't.

If you where talking about homogenizing classes I'd agree, but this is the players virtual avatar to do with as they please. I don't see why you would need to restrict them just for the sake of having restrictions.
Joven covered how I'd respond pretty well.

More or less this. I feel that the differences between genders should be respected, not deleted or marginalized.

Asking for more idle poses or weapon holding poses that we can set with cpose is fine. Asking for poses and assigning a gender to them is not. Especially since emotes like Victory or Battle Stance are class specific and not gender specific to begin with.

Hey man, do what you gotta do. Though you do understand that nudity in-game is still a no-no, right? Naked =/= gendered outfit.

More importantly, are you saying you're scared of a man in a dress? What are you afraid of? That he'll look better than you? Are you envious of a man that's as free and confident enough to wear a dress? That sounds more like a you problem.

I can respect people's desire for uniqueness, after all, we are all people after our own desires. But that guy just makes it sound like it's some cardinal sin lol.

If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.

I think it's rather unfair of you to assume I harbor some kind of fear or am offended by the concept of a man wearing a dress. And yes, I understand nudity in the game is obviously not allowable. I was simply taking your side of the argument to its logical conclusion.

What I do believe is that it's better to go with the traditional genders for multiple reasons based in faith, various sciences, and overall common sense (e.g., this study).

Will you be asking for codpieces as well, or are you prepared to take this debate seriously now?

I'd like to see proof of that, if you don't mind.

In fairness, there are gendered differences in those poses. The most noticeable ones perhaps belong to arcanist, summoner, and scholar, but there are others, such as a female dragoon's hips being cocked to one side as she stands her lance upward while a man will stand straight.
