That description of the Amh Araeng S rank sounds like you need to specifically use Self-Destruct with BLU to spawn it (Which would be hilarious considering that BLUs exploding to spawn Chernobog was already common practice). I'd initially have suspected that the Huldus that spawn in the SW corner might've been a potential candidate as well, but that mention of "distance being key" makes me feel like it's not going to be an explosion contained to one specific part of the map.

The Kholusia one is very likely spawned by whatever new thread is made from the recipes that are being introduced in tonight's patch.

The Lakelands S rank seems the most vague of all as there's an awful lot of bird mounts/minions, though I suspect the Amaro mount the most strongly (Good luck finding actual hunters who have it this early in the expansion, though). There's also a chance it might be tied to the chiliads in the northern part of the map, too.


As usual, should definitely dig up the descriptions in other languages considering the English translation's penchant for taking liberties.

Lakeland just sounds like a chocobo eater to me the last line about being from another one would suggest it too. having the companion out can be similar to having a certain minion out.

No new threads were added to weaver recipes, just a new cloth in master book.

To me, "The Brainy One" sounds like it might be from dying with BLU Self-Destruct on its spawn point. It certainly would take the distance thing into account, and it can be considered flashy.

And if I recall, it's approx. 40 hours after the server comes up.

Seemed like the hardest to kill S Rank yet. The range on it was crazy.

It's showing up on several servers now, so whatever the spawn condition is, it's not a complicated one.

It might just be harvesting dwarven cotton bolls, honestly.

EDIT: It seems this is yet another case of the English translation being very off and leaving out a key detail.

The JP hint states that the mage in question used magicks that spun threads to affect the destinies of others, then riddles about what kind of threads those might be (Which would be threads of fate, so it's almost certainly a FATE-triggered spawn.

The Cactuar instance it spawned in had a known FATE botter spamming FATEs when it happened, but no idea how long he was there. He's also only level 70 so he wasn't clearing all of the FATEs.

I'm not too convinced that's the actual spawn condition considering the prevalence of FATE bots coupled with that note from the JP hint I mentioned.

I went to back to check all of the places it spawned in on Aether and there was a bot spamming FATEs in each of those instances, all of them only targeting the lower half of the map.

I think we'd need someone constantly monitoring the FATE status while they're gathering to ensure that's the actual spawn trigger.

EDIT: It just spawned in a totally dead zone devoid of FATE activity on Sargatanas, so I guess it really is gathering.
