Don't fight for aggro when you don't even know what you're doing. :/ I sure as heck ain't gonna fight anyone for aggro.

I have this happen so often that I don't even try fighting it. Better yet, it's tanks that decide to stand with the party rather than standing where I'm at tanking it. They decide to turn on their tank stance, and start dpsing on the dps side. At that point, when it reaches ALMOST at #1 on enmity generation, I'll shirk them and have them knock themselves out with the party. The party will either adjust, or stand there stupified and die with the tank. Tanks don't realize that you no longer need the tank stance unless you're taking hate or there's a swap mechanic (in which case we're voke > shirking anyways). I'm too old to waste my time fighting other dumb tanks on how the stance actually works now.

Today i try to levelup my PLD, so i ask one of my friend to come with me in Holminster. After all, it's better with friend !

First run, i wipe the team. Pull big after the first boss, use my CD, pull big again, no more CD, take A LOT MORE DMG that i was expected... My bad.

Second run... my friend play as a MCH, with another MCH that ONLY have MCH and BRD, level 80. The healer, white mage, lvl 76, with the other heal 80.

I pull big, aaaaand... Cure. Cure Cure Cure Cure Cure Cure... the heal is spamming Cure, I have to clemency myself to stay alive. No tetra, no shield, no regen... Just Cure, cure, cure... Cure 2 if free proc, and sometime one Thing with the flower. No Holy, not one, in all the run. No Dot. No Stone. NOTHING.

And the other MCH ? ONE, i say ONE AOE, the DoT, in the run. My friend and I are spamming AOE like crazy, and they are single targeting/spamming Cure

I have to burst the last boss chain to free my friend because the healer don't DPS and the MCH is shooting the boss...

Oh and, after that, my friend just kill me with "you do more DPS on the last boss that the MCH" And the MCH stay alive ALL the fight !!

There is merit to turning on your tank stance mid fight as the OT so you may just be being a jerk for no reason.

If you've had your stance on since pull, and I wait til after my first No Mercy phase to turn on my tank stance I'll have second hate for the rest of the fight and should never actually threaten to rip off of you unless you're doing something wrong (like not taking adventage of your burst phases or straight up not hitting the boss). Then, if you die, I have hate immediately and not the poor black mage or whoever. Its safer for everyone that way.

I personally also periodically shirk the MT to keep them WELL ahead of me, but its not necessary.

Lol! How is that a problem (by itself, I mean)? Stick to what you're good at. I'm sure the entire player base is thrilled I'm not running as a healer. Took me 3 times to get through the AST starter quest because I would kill everything and forget to heal the squishy dude.

I queue into Holminster on SCH to help my friend. Tank says he's new to the dungeon. That's fine. He's in full 390 gear. Also fine.

So, we do a pull. The DNC nukes everything and steals aggro as we're running. I save the DNC, but the tank doesn't notice he's lost aggro.

I'm racing to catch up to him. He stands in everything. I blow through all my resources. When Excog disappears instantly and I Lustrate you FIVE times, maybe you're doing something wrong!

We wipe. He says, "Sorry, I didn't use Living Dead."

My nerves are frayed. I respond: "You're a little undergeared. Living Dead isn't the issue."

At first, I sincerely wondered if his i390 gear could have been the problem, considering the size of the pulls.

But then I watch him during the next pull, and I notice he's standing in everything. AoEs are chunking his HP down left and right.

Living Dead? That's your solution? How about situational awareness? Team awareness? How about looking at the aggro meter? But I mean, who needs situational awareness when you have Living Dead, right?

Or maybe the DNC should stop using Step on the first three enemies of a pack.

You know when you think up an idea that sounds good in your head but in reality, it's terrible. Yours truly did this in msq castrum yesterday as a blm.

So three years into this game, I'm doing the duty for the umpteenth time when we get to the last area with the giant mechs and foot soldiers, right before that yandere chick in the white ranger suit. I noticed we had a full lb2 bar and a deceptive bright light clicks in my head: "wait a minute..." I think, "I could one shot those guys". Great idea, right?

Wrong.

The foot soldiers got one shotted alright. The giant mechs? Brushed off my lb2 and proceeded to (collectively) one shot me...and someone else...and another.

Most of the group survives. Probably because everyone else was busy trying to do things in an orderly fashion as to not lengthen the run anymore than they should, unlike a CERTAIN SOMEONE. I reveal myself as the mastermind behind the boneheaded move, letting them also know that I wanted to see if I could one shot the mobs.

"If you had asked us before you tried, we would've told you that obviously, the answer is no." one of them responds.

I sort of shrink in my seat and utter a nervous "sorry..." to no one in particular.

Everytime I run castrum I LB2 the mobs at the final part and it kills them all. Dying in that place is just healers falling asleep. You don't LB2 the 2 big guy though, just the first two pack above the ramp.

Just going to point out... Holminster Switch drops 390 gear that has less stats then the Scaevan .. it was the tank not dodging and the bad Dancer.

Yeah, I know. But I tank all the time, and dodging those AoEs is so easy that it didn't occur to me in the moment.

*gives all the hugs* Between tanking and healing I cant decide which one has been more eye twitch inducing this expac.... though the Jesus take the wheel paladin with no cd usage is kind of tipping things towards healing is more eye twitch inducing.

I just Lv 59 The Great Gubal Library from Leveling Roulette as a WHM and got paired up with 1 sprout PLD, 1 sprout NIN, and 1 MCH. Both the paladin and the ninja have the same first name and were new to the dungeon, in which the paladin admitted of being new at the start of the dungeon.

At the Demon Tome, all three of them died totalling of 8 times deaths, the machinist even died 3 times in a row from being blasted by the book, got hit by the boss before i could top off her HP, and got hit by repel damage as soon as she was raised.

On the 2nd boss, I used rescue on the tank so the white orb hit the boss and gave a little hint on bringing the white orbs into the boss.

As we reached The Everliving Bibliotapth, the tank then asked if there's anything special about the boss. As I was explaining and typed out the 2nd sentence of the mechanic, the tank just pulled straight away so i just laughed it out and said "if ye dont want explanation, then dont ask!". Both of the dps barely moved with their black gravity orbs, they just stood there collecting vuln stacks, the tank had 7 stacks when we wiped, 3 of the 2nd wave add spawned and the tank barely grabbed em. Both of the 3rd wave adds spawned and caused the wipe.

So we respawned and the tank regretted to ignore the explanation. I explained within 4 short sentences and we managed to clear the dungeon with both dps died at some point from the orbs, and the tank had 5 vuln stacks..

As a footnote, the tank took hit of like 90% of avoidable aoes throughout the dungeon and only using his aoe skill even on single target bosses.. i dont want to know what's the ninja and machinist doing at this rate.
