Personally, I think the leveling (MSQ) dungeons are fine for what they are. The patch dungeons (your 50/60/70/80)'s are fine for that sweet tome farming, desynth farming or glamour or whatever. That doesn't mean I think harder, more involved or interesting dungeons aren't worthwhile. Extreme, Savage, Ultimate or whatever dungeons would be quite welcome in my book.

I'd like to see some more mechanics like the steam vents of sohm al hard or the waterspouts to wash off enemies in arboretum hard to mix things up a little with trash.

What I don't want to see are a return of puzzles. they might be fun the first time. But in the end they don't really add anything. Really I think puzzles are better suited to solo duties/quests than they are dungeons which are meant to be run many times.

As far as alternate paths, what do they really add? Do they really make the first 2/3 of Totorak more interesting? I would say not really. The alternate paths would need to offer something meaningful. And since they're meant to be run over and over I feel like it would just boil down to people doing whatever route is fastest.

Back in AK the strat was to pull everything and have the tank die and then rez him, because it was faster than fighting all the trash. So now we get walls that require you to kill the trash.

I still remember back in the 2.1 days when you were queueing and had a non-zero shot at getting instant requeue in the shape of Pharos Sirius, which would 90% of the time lead to the tank instantly leaving the dungeon. Loved that instance to death, but with this mentality I can definitely see them not adding dungeons like that.

Learn, explore, and think for yourself. Make your choices, take actions, and let yourself be free.

I can see why people may want something more interesting since there are times that I started to fall asleep during dungeon runs (which is my own fault since im going for all jobs to 80 so dungeon fatigue is a thing) but I am rather happy with how dungeons are laid out. Sure Satasha and Toto-Rak and other ARR dungeons got side rooms but they were almost never bothered with cause people wanted to run through them as quickly as possible unless the entire group was new.

The people who say they want large massive dungeons like WoW. . .I will borrow a quote I keep seeing pop up on their forums (paraphrasing) 'You think you do but you don't'. Having went back to Legion after being given a week free of game time (and I think even Legion cause I guess they wanted people to come back), the dungeons were pretty but boring as hell in terms of navigating it (I honestly don't remember a lot of the bosses). They were huge with lots of side rooms, mobs, and areas to explore but guess what? No one cared.

Want to go explore an area that has nothing to do with getting to the boss or has extra mobs? Better do it on ya own or with people you are in a guild with because the moment one extra mob is pulled the rest of the group will explode on you for pulling more mobs than needed and not skipping them to get to the boss. As often as duty finder is used I can see the same thing happening if FF14 started to add these same sort of dungeons. People would find the shortest path to take, skip what mobs they can, and if anymore are pulled that means more time spent in the dungeon rather than being done and I would be one of the few people if a vote kick came up to remove someone who was pulling the rest of the mobs on purpose, I would vote to remove them.

If wanted to add bosses like the second boss of Mettle (someone mentioned that earlier) than cool. I thought it was fun. Not having to fight but do a puzzle of sorts is ok with me. Or some other suggestions such as random mini-bosses for extra drops or hell, give a roulette that gives a random set up of the dungeon with random bosses already added in the game and random trash mobs in between. Something to mix it up is fine but adding large dungeons with extra rooms and more mobs in akin to something like WoW? Again, you think you do but you don't.

When I played BFA after getting used to SB the main thing about WoW dungeons that stuck out was the trash. Loads and loads of trash. I get that trash has its place, and to be fair on occasion WoW will do something intereting with it, but it just feels like there's soooooooo much of it compared to FFXIV.

I love how trash works in Wow and how dangerous it can be on Mythic+. Something this game severely lacks.

I think we could do with dungeons that are more open and that allow you to take different paths. Other than that, bosses are pretty neat.

I don't plan on playing WoW unless I got the game and game time for free but even in Legion (I did spent 30 bucks back during FFXIV's drought but even than only played for about a month) there was so much trash. It didn't take anything to the game nor make it more fun (the bosses did that). It was just trash for trash sake and just added padding to the dungeon. At least FFXIV has less trash pulls between bosses which means getting through it quicker.

Out of everything from WoW, mythic + is the only (if one of the few) things I would like to see. Made dungeons challenging and you had to think more on how to get through it but instead of the issue the game seems to have now (people looking at Io raider whatever the hell that is), every +1 on the 'key' could just mean an extra +1 minimum to ilevel needed to get in up to the max gear ilevel currently out.
