It's for the best. Titan-Chan stopped tanking well about midway through Heavonsward anyway. Best to not get dependent on that.

Not even close. I get them maybe 1/2 way down before they are on me.
Edit: could be a scaling thing.
I know what I want. I just want summons to be used as spell animation rather than a pet. You have different spells with different effects, different levels, etc. and each spell's animation consists of you quickly summoning a summon that will do the effect of that particular spell.
Admittedly this is what I've wanted for that job from the beginning, or at least something similar.I know what I want. I just want summons to be used as spell animation rather than a pet. This sounds like the closest we would ever see ff11 type summoner. It seems to be slowly moving that way though. Just a blm with different animations.
I liked that it could tank but as others said it had issues as you leveled and time went on (like early days it used to be so good it could replace tanks XD, then that was nerfed and titan didn't scale well).
I do imagine it causing some abnormalities in their systems with the mechanics at hand though, like the demi-primals. If perhaps egi was always out but shifted forms, so it was always the same entity, that might have made coding a tanking titan easier.. but there still a bunch of other cases to consider then (and balance too).
Personally I'd prefer if all primals could keep their hp but couldn't be killed.
Something like if they reach 0 hp their enmity is transferred back to you, become untargetable, lose their hp bar, and lose ability to gain enmity, and their hp will reset to 100% in 30 seconds (never vanishes though or stops fighting for you). Maybe each cast of Physick can lower the cooldown on revival (regardless of target), may even change Physick to Sustain as part of some talent buff. Like casting sustain on your egi causes them to both heal and gain a HoT, while casting on ally is similar to it is now (may buff it for giggles if SE wants but that seems a bit unnecessary).
So you'd have bahamut and pheonix tank too technically. To give summoners control of this tanking mode perhaps on the egi hotbar there is a tank mode button, when on egi have hp and generate enmity and when off they do not. Titan egi coming with all enmity generated by you is transferred to titan (so you can technically have your ifrit or garuda tank but you'll want titan to start the mode to at least begin an enmity gap, and as it's not a bonus to enmity so it's unlikely you could steal other player tank hate who do have bonuses). This ability being default to off (user has to turn it on).
That said it'd have the potential to make balance issues, again.. and having egi unable to tank is certainly the simpler option lol.

The summons don't actually do anything in this game, I wouldn't call it a summoner, i'd call it arbitrary carbuncle master. ACM
The number of people with SMN at 60+ complaining that they can't do solo content anymore because Titan can't tank for them makes me think there are just a lot of people really bad at SMN.
If we're talking about the same content. Then they could damn near just ruin spam it down. Truth be told they can't be having trouble, I think they're running from something they don't need to run from. They're just not realizing all DPS have to attrition their target and usually have an easy time of it.
Having a look at your lodestone profile, if accurate, UPGRADE YOUR DAMNED BOOK. Level 30 book at level 49 is going to be garbage.
SMN has the skills to burn stuff down. But you've gotta have stats to do it.
