I don't understand why summoner pets don't tank at all.

So I'm leveling this summoner and with no pet helping with threat at all I have to run around like a Bard because my armor is like paper evidently. Seems like an odd decision imo. There is a shield from one of the pets but it's pretty weak.

Am I alone here? Anyone else think it's kind of dumb?

As if other jobs don't have this problem. You don't go around trying to solo large groups of mobs or fates without your chocobo.

Tank pets are gone, not that it was ever that good to begin with (excluding ARR), use the chocobo companion or find some friends to do stuff with.

20% of HP barrier that you can hold two stacks and only takes 30 seconds on cooldown to refresh, not to mention the barrier itself can stay up on the player for 30secs if not enough damage is taken. Might have less percentage than BLM's Manaward (which is 30%) but you can have some serious uptime with Stone Wall unless you are really doing something wrong (under-geared, large mobs etc).

Titan-egi used to be a tank, but it could never keep up with increasing item levels on gear, so it was terrible at the job.

Just don't pull too much at a time. Take it slow and easy. It's faster than constantly porting back to your home location every time you get killed.

If we're talking solo content. I'm surprised you're not killing the mobs before they can get to you. Not sure what the issue is here.

Summoner has issues, but those issues aren't a factor here. I think you could damn near pull this off as an Arcanist.
