Not a big surprise, much of the AST questline is a lie currently because of all the cards only balance still lines up with the lore of its constellation.

I'm replaying the early AST quests. They don't talk about the constellations giving specific boosts, and the initial 'battle instance' no longer involves Leveva giving specific instructions on the use of each card. The large-scale idea of the cards granting strength to people in battle has not changed, and most of the plot is unaffected by the exact details of what the cards do besides "empower and heal". Which they still do.
However, having just done the Lv35 quest written to reward you with Royal Road, the concept is still talked about but you get nothing for it at the end.
Oh so they no longer talk about the constellations at all then? Because Bole was talked about extending its branches to protect, Ewer for nourishing, spire for invigorating, arrow for hastening, and spear for creating moments toward victory.I'm replaying the early AST quests. Well nice to know our lore was butchered like our cards were.
Where did I say they no longer talk about the constellations at all? The lectures on each constellation as we unlock it are still there. I said the descriptions don't clearly refer to specific boosts - whether they were always like that or they've been adjusted.Oh so they no longer talk about the constellations at all then? I'm not keen on the stripping back of individual card effects either, but seeing as it's happened, it would be silly to leave the initial "use Bole on the tank, use Balance on the lancer" instructions Leveva gives during the introductory quest.
I do have an older version of the script saved, and will compare them later.
And the script has had larger story changes/corrections made to it already, so adjusting card descriptions to fit the gameplay seems minor by comparison.
I just ran through the Arcanist quests, Levels 1-30 and first Scholar/Summoner quests. The quest text was definitely not updated properly to accommodate the significant changes 5.0 made. Having been through this before on another account, I could shrug it off, but a new player, or even old player new to the class? It varies from being confusing to outright incorrect.
One thing I've always loved about FFXIV is there attention to details. Spelling errors and typos get fixed, there is some real quality dialogue. Honestly, this is just disappointing. How hard would it have been for them to simply spend an afternoon reading the quest lines and fixing the obvious issues with the text? Add to this that the people it negatively impacts the most are new players... blows my mind. This isn't some esoteric, time consuming, difficult to do code change and engine rewrite. Sit down with tea, read the quests, compare to the new job setups, and fix. Not rocket science, nor any huge allocation of resources.
Its poor planning and laziness. Also seeing stuff like when you first equip the Scholar job crystal and all icons populate on the hotbed... it skips over physick! Again, for people that have played, no big deal. For a new player, beyond confusing, they'll likely think it was replaced by adloquium or something. Not cool at all. People who are in charge of this stuff, please love your game as your player base does and fix it!

That could be a glitch. When I first equipped SCH after 5.0, several basic abilities had stopped working and had been replaced by identically-named but separate abilities. Maybe the code still points to "Physick" but it's not called that any more, or something. Also seeing stuff like when you first equip the Scholar job crystal and all icons populate on the hotbed... it skips over physick!
