Way to take things out of context. I mentioned the specs of my PC, and you were the one who started the personal insults by saying that my parents must have bought it for me. Someone else then pointed out that not everyone works minimum wage jobs and that there are adults who can afford nice things. Now you're here looking for people to back you up, lol.

To answer the rest of your post, the fact is that PC is an objectively superior platform and games are usually held back from their true potential because they have to be made with the lowest denominator (consoles) in mind. Look at the early areas of this game - they are incredible cramped and full of loading screens because they had to be able to run on the PotatoStation 3. As awful as WoW is these days, go look at that for an example of what a PC-only game can do - very few loading screens and seamless transition between zones. There is a valid reason that serious PC gamers hate consoles, and it's because they are garbage spec hardware that is obsolete before it's even released, and games have to account for that.

I've literally never heard the term before and I don't think its wide spread or as common as the OP is suggesting.

Oh I’ve been quite aware of it, I just don’t see the appeal about acting like a bunch of children bragging about their expensive PC components purchases, I don’t freaking care what people play on and nor should anyone else.

Oh it was more than that, at least it used to be. Way back when ps2 was holding back ffxi from quite a bit of stuff. They finally forced everyone to upgrade to the 360 in order to play the seekers expansion pack. Not sure if Ps3/ps4 is holding FFXIV back. Maybe the ps3 but I'd imagine the ps4 could handle it. I do remember console player complaining about lag issues when everyone gathered to fight Odin etc. Not sure if that's still a problem.
