Why are people upset about the gender lock ?

There is the fact that SE themselves admitted they had time to make 1 race with 2 genders and they did not want to add any more races after that due to the amount of work it requires given the ever increasing numbers of gear that is being introduced into the game. They had a lot of calls for a beast like race and just as many for Viera which in the past were almost exclusively depicted as a female race be it FFT or FFXII.

So they decided to implement the Viera and implement a male beast like race to fulfill both calls for a beast like race and for Viera. Maybe in the future since they wont be working on any new races to add in expansions we could get Female Hrothgar (since Hrothgar were made to look like Ronsos and they had females depicted) and Male Viera (who based on what I have looked up have never been depicted only mentioned). Though I kinda doubt it.

There is no such thing as a male Viera. The Viera are able to mate with males of any other species but all of their children are Viera. It's just how their genetics work. This is possible because they live in a world with multiple other races. They have simply just evolved to have longer lifespans and don't have as much of a need for children. When they do, they need only a small amount of genetic material to produce offspring. This can come from most any other sentient species as this is a fantasy world. I've no doubt the multiple races can intermingle as they have developed on the same planet. We don't see any mixed race characters in game because they take on the dominat traits of one of the races and not a 50/50 split like our basic human concept of genetics works. Just as the Viera are demonstrating. It is possible during a calamity that a Viera could take on the role of a male partner in a worst case scenario. This is where the myth of a male Viera comes from because life finds a way and all that. As for female hrothgar... They already exist, they are simply indestigunishable from the males due to their stature and hair... Much like dwarves with their beards.

The biggest thing is the fact in 1.0 people were upset at genderlock
and released the fem Roe, fem Highlander and male Miqo in 2.0.
Everyone was happy to be free from genderlock nonsense.

Can you cite any source to back that up? Because what made people upset from 1.0 was not genderlock, but the game itself.

Err, no I'm afraid that is the direct opposite of how it works. On twitter people have posted screenshots of how the Viera/Viis of the first are facing extinction due to many of the males being slain by sin eaters and of one that saves a female in the forest that the player doesn't see. They exist and unlike the Au Ra/Hyur/Elezen mixes that I am aware of, they seem to only be able to reproduce within their own race. A quick google search for FFX Ronso will show more or less what female Hrothgar look like, and they are clearly distinguishable from their male counterparts.

I don't know anything about 1.0 other than its battle system on youtube looks painfully slow but it probably did bother people that there were missing genders then as well.

That wouldn't fit the OHHHHH I DIDN"T GET ALL MA GENDERS even though SE and the team have been very clear why not. The fact that neither released gender is even completely done with hairstyles and head gear just goes to show how difficult it has been to implement the two genders we got. One can only speculate how much harder it would be having to account for the additional gear released in 5.0 for any new gender in 6.0 and beyond.

I'd love to see more races/genders but given how difficult a time the development team is having just implementing the two genders for 5.0, I have serious doubts that we'll see more races/genders in the future.

They decided to add the two most asked for races and only do one gender for each as a compromise since they don't plan on adding anymore races to the game due to the amount of dev time they take. I guess I worded it wrong. I meant people were upset with genderlocks in 1.0 but they stopped it in 2.0.
Wasn't talking about the entire time...It's pretty obvious they were upset of genderlocked races...because here we are today, upset about it.
I think I read they were going to
probably try and get the other genders but it's way in the backburner.
I think I read it from Mr. Happy's interview with Yoshida himself, don't quote me on it 100% though.

Can this stop?.... 1.0 had a CRAP-ton of issues, you can say Genderlock is one of them, but it wasn't the biggest issue. We get it, y'all want Male Viera, most of us can understand the disappointment....but people need to stop acting like Genderlocks are the Number One reason why 1.0 failed.

I didn't say it was...I meant the fact in 1.0 they had genderlock, they removed it in 2.0 but returned it in 5.0.
No where did I say this is why 1.0 failed. Please calm down.
