How has this innocent topic devolved into this? Haven't we all innocently flirted with someone? Honestly, I think the discussion has become more mature and in-depth than the subject itself. James Bond always flirted with Moneypenny, and neither one seemed to genuinely want to have a fling. What's wrong with an option we can say no to? Anyone playing this game is SUPPOSED to be old enough to handle this level of maturity.

Most people probably wouldn't care if such an option existed. I'd be one of them. Some in this thread, however, either took things too far either for or against, or derailed the topic entirely. So basically, your average forum thread after it has outlived its usefulness.

People get really dumb when any form of sexuality comes into play. No matter how low key it is. Like, really really dumb. Asking for an option to tell the Exarch his white streaks are rather becoming would guarantee a good 4-5 people bringing up something unrelated to argue against it.

Coz there was a dude that wanted to protect 16 year old kids from homosexual flirting for some reason.
When really, at age 16 (or any age really) they shouldn't be sheltered from flirting or homosexual relationships, because both of those things aren't even damaging in any way.

I can distinctly remember one knight out in Whitebrim saying, "Why don't you come over into my bunk, squire?" They were both male characters. That's, uh, pretty darn flirty.

And from another discussion, some MSQ dialogue you can only see if you're midway through the CT quests when playing Shadowbringers:

They actually put dialogue in for if you're in the middle of the CT quest line, I was a hardcore crafter back in ARR so I didn't get around to the CT till during HW, however I thought the quests ended at "The World of Darkness" So I never actually finished the quest line till towards the end of SHB when I noticed G'raha say something to the effect of this during the flashback explaining his plans. "My past self currently travels with the WoL, I'd not spoil the rest of that time of my life for anything" So it's a nice little detail they even thought of people in the middle of the CT story.

Still not romantic, but lovely.

Since when was that the topic? For 19 pages the topic has been primarily about being able to have options to flirt with specific NPCs. And why are you trying to twist what he said?

Ummm... ever since Zeonx turned a discussion about options to flirt with NPCs in a video game into an argument about parenting and the ramifications that the depiction of same sex love in fictional material could have on the poor kids - and even worse - their parents. I guess?

I'll just go ahead and give you a few examples:

again the son thing is just a example it could be grown ups who have values like that and just see characters differently, then to make a suggestive romance man and man would change a persons perspective of that character which would ruin their experience even if they had to skip.

It's not about that its about value's lets say the dad is not very fond of same sex stuff his son plays the game and If Aymeric asks "How about a romantic dinner between you and I what do you say"

Do you think the father has a right to blow the hell up because I know the answer because none of us have a right to tell him how to raise his son and what he is able to see he has a right to complain he has every right to be upset over it.

Now if I knew that was in the game, I have a son myself I wouldn't want him to read that if he respected Aymeric the way he was and if changed his way of viewing that character after the cutscene his thoughts would totally change wouldn't you agree if he didn't believe in that stuff and if he did I can't do nothing about it even if I didn't believe in it but at his age I still wouldn't want him to read it?


I don't care what anyone does on their own time that's between everyone else it doesn't bug me but when it presents itself and im forced to see a option like that how am I supposed to feel because it would make me think of that character in a new light regardless of what people think of me.

Besides, and perhaps more on point:

I honestly do not understand how a character's (supposed) sexuality or even their stance on sexuality itself could make or break them for people. Let's take Aymeric, for one, since he's come up so many times now: Why would someone see him with a different set of eyes, knowing that he might be homosexual (and not even necessarily for their character, but another's)? This is not a trick question. I cannot fathom how this one aspect (and a minor one at that, all things considered) of a character's personality can be such a big deal for some that it seems to overshadow everything else when the alignment in question doesn't sit well with them somehow.

Characters are more than their sexuality, you know. To be honest, I find it kind of ironic that some of us have been accused of reducing a character to their sexuality, when statements like these (the ones quoted above) are far more guilty of this, in my opinion.

This just reminds me of the comments during the "In His Garden" quest from Feo Ul about watching us with "ruby eyes aglow" or the cutscene later with all the ppl from the Crystarium talking about how he had a noticeable spring in his step when he went to greet us. And the door scene. G'raha manages to stay fairly collected in front of us. But out of our sight he clearly has no chill, cus *everyone* who knows him sees something at some point. lol
