Exarch spoils...

[spoiler]Did anyone also figure out that the Exarch was G'raha Tia early on?

I suspected him from the beginning for a couple reasons, the first being that Alphinaud literally says his name after meeting the Exarch ( I cant remember exactly what). But he says G'raha's name and is remembering him in the Tower at the end of all of that.

Another thing is the way the Exarch stands is the male Miqote neutral stance, and maybe it's just my ocd (I notice little stupid details) but I...just immediately made note of this. "He's a miqote and he's been in the tower a while. G'raha was left in the tower.."

and so when his hood blew off, I was like well duh it's him!

It also didn't help that I was leveling an alt prior to beating the MSQ and saw the stupid minion and..then it was 100% confirmed. But I wasn't like..upset I saw it, because again, I had already convinced myself it WAS him anyway.[/spoiler]

I think we're past spoiler tagging at this point in this thread so... yeah.

I may have talked about this a bit much from the beginning... was more surprised when some people couldn't see it was him when I'd pointed it out. But I'd picked it very early, because right when we were theorising over the mysterious voice in 4.4 and the initial 5.0 trailer (both suggesting an element of time travel) there was also a rumour/leak I'd seen posted that the Crystal Tower was going to be important - so I put it all together and said "well, actually that voice would probably suit G'raha... and time travel would get us around the issue of the original CT storyline being optional."

So everything from that point on was just confirmation. First the poster, then final confirmation (aside of the small possibility of a lookalike/clone) with his appearance in 4.55 - at which point I could look up the character data and it was an exact match for his original model.

At the time I was mostly excited just because I'd guessed it right, but I enjoyed him being in the story even more than I expected.

People had been waiting for a male Miqo'te to become part of the MSQ, and G'raha was the most prominent one so far, which made him a good candidate. I find it funny that the male Miqo'te we finally got is somewhat of a GMO (his ancestry having been modified by the Allag) with a sprinkle of Crystal Tower. Not that I mind, I even think it sounds good: G'raha Tia, the space-time travelling GMO Miqo'te from the future

He's not exactly "prominent" though, even if he came first. One member of the group generally regarded as the game's worst story portion, and pretty unremarkable beyond being "village leader".

G'raha was the central character of a storyline, went through a whole arc of character development, and was a lot more "on the same level" as the WoL - a young adventurer seeking out the mysteries of the tower. He felt like an important character throughout it.

(If I was going to point out a male Miqo'te in the MSQ prior to this, the best option would probably be V'mah Tia from the Scions' B-team. He's been around for a while now and hasn't done anything notable yet - but Arenvald took two expansions to get anything of a feature, so who knows what they've got planned for the others.)

I am curious what would be the reason for the...

Warriors of Light to fight against the Scion's and WoL.

There are multiple reason I can think up being....

1) One may fear the WoL's power and thus deem him or her a threat that needs to be eliminated. (one of the common anime/fantasy story dark bad ending results where the people the Hero saved seek to kill them because of personal fear even if the Hero is good natured)

2) One may just deem WoL too dangerous to be allowed to live a normal life. (the one where the people the Hero is deemed more as a weapon for a nation rather than a living person)

3) One maybe blinded by his or her own belief for what it means to be a Hero (the easily manipulated person with grand gestures of themselves being a Hero either through blind belief for being always Just and Right or just easily manipulated)

4) One maybe seeing us as someone who is secretly Evil and only did Good to hide their own much larger Evil plans. (The Fear a Hero is not what they appear to be.)

5) One may have lost hope for people being Good and see everyone as Evil. (no Hero was there for this person thus they don't believe in Heroes)
