Even if I'm in the middle of something else lol. I mainly do this because I know how frustrating it can be to die to something that's just slightly too strong, or that you didn't mean to aggro when low on health or that stops you from teleporting or mounting or dying on the last mob of a FATE or the Boss FATE you want to attempt but its just slightly out of your reach. When I go back to old ARR areas and I see low-level characters attempting their Hunt log and they are attempting their higher-level targets you know damn well I'm going to help because that's me.

I'm in no rush and its better to make the game feel more enjoyable and friendly then barren and individual. And if I get EXP out of it that's cool too.
I do it sometimes, admittedly, mostly when I'm on one of my tank "alt" jobs or WHM as I feel much more (or only) comfortable to "tank" during FATEs. On my Dragoon, not so often as I focus more on MSQ errands. One time I was asked to rezz their character in front of me, so one button press to switch to WHM and the deal's done. In GW2 for example, it's mostly common courtesy to rally another player and you get even a tiny bit xp by doing it xD. Many players can rally the same player, but that's mostly because it's different game mechanics.

As for WoW? On my server, there's hardly any communication in instanced zones or in the ARR cities. What I've seen on other forums, the most clashs between FFXIV and WoW is mostly about which game has better raids and sometimes a few "MSQ too long" complaints. Generally, no official forum users like it when other MMOs are being (more) discussed than the OF one. And as was said many times before, yes, toxicity exists in every MMORPG, self-proclaimed "best community ever!!!" or not. Guts-based more in "hardcore contents" à la competitive modes or raids, speedruns, high-end meta topics. It's the same endless arguing, be it WoW, GW2, FFXIV, BnS or what else.

As someone who was playing WoW for 1 month and then quit and also was in the forum.
The people there really hate WoW and either quit or they wait for classic wow. Like you see complaint threads everyday.
And honestly most wow refugees I have met ingame in ff 14 were pretty friendly.
Honestly I don't think the ff 14 community will really change in a negative way, I think it will be pretty unnoticable.....except if some obnoxious pewdiepie like wow youtubers join the game.

    Overall toxicity is everywhere

I don't condone what the person said whom you quoted. But I have to disagree that bullying doesn't solve anything. I made a living 'bullying' and it did make some improvements.

For every one person you improve by smacking them around 10 end up getting discouraged and made worse. It is not a winning strategy.

Teaching people to pull together and build up bonds of cooperation and teamwork is much wiser.

If WoW expats have one downfall it would be low wipe tolerance. But the same problem also exists in the FFXIV community. The best way to teach people to “git gud” is to encourage them to stick together even through blameable fail, to the point where things are overcome and the personfolks would have cast blame on learns.

Bullying though, that rarely helps. Even with the one you did improve, their loyalty likely went down in the process.

Nor does your lack of objectivity.

I'm seeing a trend in these types of threads: ”I think, I think, I think”

What have you observed and compiled?

    This is completely false.

    Fewer hyperboles, please.

How exactly would you know that every thread was like that? Generalizing will get you nowhere.

I am not coming over from WOW, I am coming over from ESO! Glad to be a part of the FF14 community again!

    @mario710

What I see you doing in this thread is provoking for, seemingly, the sake of provocation. How can you tell someone their opinion is false, and then in your next line spout off a one-liner about subjectivity? Then you call someone out on hyperbole and accuse them of being too specific when their post, that you quoted, clearly shows them saying it was a 'prevalent theme' as opposed to an 'absolute'?

Seems you are trying to prove your own theory that bullying and/or shaming people brings about the best in them. However, while you may think this is correct, socialization studies disprove your theory.
