Did you switch jobs in shadowbringers?, from what to what and why?

For my main, I switched from BRD to DNC - although, I still plan to flex both. DNC being more support oriented is what prompted me to switch, as well as its aesthetic (still attached to BRD though, which would be expected after 3+ years of playing it).

For my healers, I switched from AST to WHM because AST is just terrible right now. Terrible potencies and terrible design. They took the old card system that initially drew me to the class and destroyed it. And it feels like I'm healing with a broken weapon compared to WHM and SCH.

Played as a Scholar-Main through 70 in Stormblood, but mostly just playing with friends in dungeons more than raiding.

Enjoyed playing one of the weaker light party healers because the offensive output helped make it more enjoyable. Group healing was never a complaint, as Indom was very strong. Was not very fun queuing up for Full party as SCH because Galv didn't stack, unlike regens.

At the end of the first day of pre-release Shadowbringers, I looked at the screen and just couldn't do it, anymore. Gained some other healing abilities with better pet control, but lost all offensive output for light party (not just numbers, but omg so boring), and in full party Galv still didn't stack, so what's the point? Might as well play something else.

Landed on MCH and WHM.

Machinist if I'm at home on stable internet, but not if I'm traveling and don't have a fast enough speed to get 2 OGCD's at a time, or 5 Heat Blasts in each Hypercharge cycle (yeah, internet speed affects it that much).
If I'm on slow internet, I'll just play White Mage now, because it's as strong a healer as ever, and just as boring as Scholar offensively, so why not? Why would I play Scholar at this point? Can't even bring myself to level it past 71. I'd rather stare off into the distance from the top floor of Eulmore waiting for a Expert Roulette on a DPS class.

As someone who never had interest in tanking or crafting, I've started to do both over Scholar. GNB is 80 with 439 gear (as are MCH and WHM) and DRG will be 439 by tomorrow, most likely. 1 Raid reward from each per week is rough, probably spend it on WHM since I know I can play it all the time.

Initial Ratings in Shadowbringers for enjoyability:
Machnist 9/10
White Mage 7/10
Dragoon 7/10
Gunbreaker 7/10
Scholar 1/10 (makes me sad)

In Stormblood, the ratings would have been 5, 5, 6, x, 10, respectively.

I switched from being a healer (AST) main in Stormblood to being a BLM main in Shadowbringers.
Simply because they took everything I liked about AST (different types of buffs, time related skills) away from it to give us ... something strange. And I already got bored playing healer anyway.
BLM has always been my favorite DD and the new changes are great, so I'm glad I switched

I guess I am atypical in the way I play. I don't have a "main" and one alt; I go for all jobs, war and magic, gathering and crafting, and level them at the same rate. I usually play each job/class in 5 level increments and then switch for a while. I find it breaks up some tedium and enhances the play - e.g. first time doing Garuda Extreme as Dragoon obviously very different than doing same as WHM.

Last time I played was Heavensward. Back when that was current I was a Black Mage. Came back for Shadowbringers as a Dancer.

Why?

Well, in the Heavensward days BLM was immobile. I hated it. So I took up a mobile class.

I understand BLM has had some quality of life fixes since those days and in Shadowbringers is quite fun so I'll probably go back and check it out at some point.

Ya, he is still kind of a turret job but he has a few mobility options

Current mains:

SCH, DRK, MCH

SMN is a piece of garbage right now. Absolutely disastrous rotation (if it has one at all), terribly bad DPS compared to previous version, no new permanent summons. We know Yoshi-p hates pet classes but this is an insult to any pet class lovers. Can't tank with Titan anymore as it is unexistent physically speaking. A summoner that can't tank with pets. Won't touch this mess until they do something with it.

DRK
It's nice now with Edge of Darkness skill. The summon at lv80 is simply a dot. I couldn't care less about it. The removal of the power slash combo is simply the worst decision ever. Now instead of spamming 2 combos for 80 levels you can only spam one. And i want Dark Passenger back.

AST
No buffs they add can fix how they incredibly ruined this job. The fun with the cards and their different effects were key in this job's design. Now you have 1 effect only. What an incredible piece of garbage class AST is right now. No wonder it got lots of buffs in 5.05 but the class can never be fixed until they roll back the card changes.

MCH
This job is the only class that actually got better after the expansion. Maybe MNK a bit.

I leveled up WHM first for faster queues but switched back to RDM right after (which was my main in SB as well). After my FC got into raiding we are always missing a second tank so now I'm leveling the WAR to fill in the tank position (and with DNC & BRD already in the raid group we don't need another low DPS/Support character)

SCH main, unhappy with changes so leveled DNC first. Not totally thrilled with DNC so leveled MCH. Loving MCH but I think I'm going to level SCH next despite the changes as its still my favorite healer.
