You guys have to stop saying 385 is low for this. It was fine in 370 ish gear on sch. Did it on an alt with time to spare before 5.0. The advice of grinding you ilvl up is sound, just undermining the fact there could be a greater issue here.
Would be nice to get more input on this from the sch perspective since the changes. If it’s at all possible, maybe just take the damage m from the aoe instead of running about (I can’t remember if it’s fatal or if there’s a vuln stack or what). Since you have no other use for your af stacks you can just ogcd heal yourself as you nuke the swords. Clipping your gcd with lustrage or excog or whispering dawn should not be as bad a loss as moving around. (Keep dissipation in mind if you need extra stacks)
If the aoes are fatal then it’ll probably be an ilvl grind or have to be done on an alt.
At least that’s what I would try

I agree I did it in i400/i390 as ast. So my wife playing DPS wearing i390/i385 should with everything I stated be hands down beating be it. I honestly feel it's free much the class changes, it has in advertenly raised the I'll needed to beat it.You guys have to stop saying 385 is low for this. It was fine in 370 ish gear on sch. Sorry replying mobile so if my posts badly worded that's why
This is not caused by the job changes, period, end of story. I do not buy for a second that SCH cannot do with a 260 potency Broil II what an AST could do with a 220 potency Malefic III in SB.
There are some youtube videos with players who need 4 hits per sword to take them down and they manage to do so with generous downtime for movement and even target selection mishaps.
How many hits do you need per sword? If you cannot manage with 4, can you reduce the number to 3? (this should be easier now with the potency buff to Broil II)
Try: better gear (weapon especially), melding, food, doing the duty several times in a row for Echo.
Go back and do the fight with the changes then speak. I am watching a ilvl 385 drag in mostly 390 food, pots, echo, melds reach the 3rd sword with 90+ on the gauge. Even with all her cds blown she is nowhere near killing a sword in 4 hits. This is not caused by the job changes, period, end of story. No. 220 potency vs 260 potency. Numbers do not lie.
I did it on ast which is my main, I was better geared then the op and still had the the gauge come close 100 when I beat the dps check. You are also ignoring that the op does not have a full tool kit, unlike people who did it pre class changes. My wife has the same problem she without a doubt puts more dps right now then I did back then and she still can't clear it even fully buffed. You can't use numbers when players 70 lack all the numbers.
This duty is in the last quest of Stormblood and is in a quest line literally called "Post-Stormblood". If you have reached this point, you have your full level 70 toolkit unlocked. If not, go unlock it. Also, I don't think ilvl 400 is an unreasonable expectation if the job is not played optimally.I did it on ast which is my main, I was better geared then the op and still had the the gauge come close 100 when I beat the dps check. Here is a video of a White Mage doing the swords in 5.0. No echo. Stones required: 3, 4, 3 and 83 gauge remaining with generous downtime, as I said. https://youtu.be/4lHkMkf25EY?t=798
You could argue that the DPS check is too tight and is blocking players from progressing, but that is a whole different story. All I said in my first post is this: the duty was successfully completed regularly during Stormblood with weaker abilities, therefore the job changes are not causing this issue.
Apparently you did read the part where I said I am watching a 70 dragoon in i385 out dps my ast when it was i395. Yet the dragoon still can't down the fight. Class changes do have and effect and it varies from one class to a other. Whm were also one the least changed classes. This duty is in the last quest of Stormblood and is in a quest line literally called "Post-Stormblood".
