Problem with Requiem For Heroes post 5.0 (SCH) Damage too low

Basically, my damage is too low. I cannot drop the three swords in time. I have full 385HQ crafted gear on.

All we have is Bio and Broil2, with Ruin2 when we're moving. The AOEs mean you're moving a lot in that one. I just cannot do enough damage to the three swords.

Full disclosure: I am old and retired and don't have a quick brain or reflexes or mad skills.

The swords appear. I have tried:

1) DoT first, DoT second, activate +10% Crit and burn it down, DoT third burn it down, go back to first - too late.

2) DoT all 3, activate 10% Crit, start burning them down. Fail with about 30%+ left on final sword.

I can't just stand there and use Broil2 owing to nasty orange circles and Ruin2 is not giving me the damage needed.

I have failed this duty more than 6 times now. I know what I need to do, I just cannot do it with my old arsenal missing.

I did this quest pre 5.0 with PLD, WAR and SCH (yes, I run a lot of alts)

Last time I did it with SCH we had Bio, Miasma, Miasma2, Broil, Ruin2, Shadowflare, Energy Drain, Cleric Stance and the Crit Buff plus potential minor buffing from Selene....

Did anyone at SE test the old HW/SB solo quests with 5.0 characters?

I cannot be the only old duffer that needs more damage output for this quest

Don’t waste time on DoTs the swords die in like 3 broils so you’ll only get 2-3 tics of bio which amounts to around 120 potency, less than ruin 2. You can also ignore the AoEs, you’re a healer excogitation and eos is more than enough to power through, unless you’re standing in multiple AoEs then swiftcast broil while you move.

Other than that, upgrade your gear, you can go up to i400 with tome gear from rhalgr’s upgraded by coins from the ivalice Raid and spam a bit of O4 normal for the weapon tomestone. That’s a lot of extra MND and secondary stats, not to mention the extra magic damage from an upgraded weapon to increase your damage dealt. You shouldn’t need to do this but if your damage is too low then it is an option available to you.

Ilvl 385 is actually a bit low. Most players did that quest with gear between 390 and 400.

You can buy every ilvl 400 gear for poetics now in rhalgars, including the upgrade tokens.
You need 600 poetics for the ilvl 400 weapon, which is the most important gear.

Also if you fail often enough, you get an echo buff, if i´m not mistaken.

I'll be honest - even with all the advice you both gave, I could not do it. I switched to my DRG (il375) alt class and did it easily with that. I just could not get enough damage from the SCH to kill the three swords in time even with just using Broils.

Maybe my target changes were just not quick enough, but I hit TAB for the next target as soon as each sword died and still failed. (It was faster than mouse-clicking the enmity list)

Thank you for all your assistance, but I think old SCHs like me need help for old solo instances like that now.

Healers in general don't do a ton of damage anymore (ok, maybe except WHM now with their multiple high potency spells), especially Sch unless you have crit out the wazoo and even then you're pressed cause you have to be stationary so often and Ruin 2 doesn't make up the difference enough comparably to make ends meet.

The healer questline in ShB won't ask a high amount of damage from you luckily, but good luck doing some of those MSQ instances as a healer anymore. Make use of your SMN half if you must is all I can say unfortunately.

The OP is right the class changes have had major effects on some classes. My wife plays dragoon she is Ilvl 385 with a mix of i380/i390.she is reaching the final sword with 90+ on the gauge. Thats with melds, pots,food, echo and a solid rotation she still cant get passed it, we are considering just using a story boost to skip it completely.

Even at i385, it feels a little low. If it's a bit hard consider spending some Poetics on the i400 gear and weapon. Overall iLv doesn't amount to much if it's just one piece that's holding you back, so it's best to make sure everything is up to date.

You cant buy i400 with poetics. You have to buy i390 then run 24 mans for the upgrades. You cant buy just the i400 itself..
