The only time I'll help heal as a red mage is when either the healer is being rezed and the tank or healer need hp or if I screw up and eat too much damage.

Alot of them do take verbal beatings in groups for the smallest mistakes. Taking those beatings over and over again can turn you cynical I suppose.
Pretty much what Moonfish said. We get sarcastic remarks often enough that its super easy to mistake genuine compliments as just more sarcasm.I have been noticing in dungeon runs that when I say something to a healer like. " Nice Job!" "Great Heals!" or even "Nice rescue!" I get replies like "?" or "Are you serious?" or in one case they just dropped. I mean this kind of thing happens a lot.
Last night my partner on a RDM told the healer "Don't worry I got your back!" after helping with heals. The poor healer took offense!
I feel bad, lately it seems you guys must be taking a beating in groups. That's sad.
The point of this post is to let all you full time heals know some of us love you guys and notice the hard work you do, so relax and take my complements!
Honestly the best way to make sure to let a Healer know they're appreciated is with commendations. 1 is usually just a token handout from the Tank, but more than that usually means the DPS noticed you do well enough to commend you over the Tank.
And then there are comments like these that you can't take badly, lol

Personally, I don’t like this as a healer. Especially if the RDM is spending a lot of time topping people off with heals while I have HoTs going that will easily tick the party back up to full over the course of their duration. I know how much damage my party can take to survive, so I don’t really need RDMs spending GCDs on Verheals when they should be using them for VerDPS. And I can understand other healers taking that as an insult.

I'm not going to lie. I thought healers got the hell nerfed out of them this expansion. I had a string of groups where boss party busters (the unavoidable AOEs they all do) were causing me to get killed nearly half the time. I was like damn... did AOE heals get nerfed or something. So when I got my first job to 80 and then I decided to get on and dust off one of my healing classes. Made sure they had the best gear they could and ran the first dungeon. One of the dungeons I had alot of problems receiving heals in.
Yeah.. they weren't nerfed badly. In fact I found it pretty easy. I found I could even time my AOE healing to make it look like the party busters hadn't hit the group at all.
Just yesterday. My friend was running Ala Mhigo as a tank. The healer who was in 400+ item level gear was struggling on two pacls. So he did what he normally does when players struggle, he tones it back. But there's a part nearly halfway where a ton of mobs come out, you can't control it, they just come. He died there and he was told by the healer he wasn't geared enough.
He was a Gunbreaker.. but wearing level 75 gear from ShB... He was better geared than the healer by a bit. How the hell do you get better gear than what you find in Qitana Ravel before you're even in the expansion? Wtf was going through that healer's mind?
So healers...
If you are keeping the tank from dying. We appreciate it.
If you keep the DPS topped off after AOE. We appreciate it.
If you use defensives to keep party mates from dying. We appreciate it.
If you fail at any of those things. We don't appreciate it.
And sorry to say, I've seen no instance where there should be any problems ingame. Had a wipe yesterday because a healer decided to look at a TV during a boss fight and got themselves killed. It always little things like that. So please.. and this goes for Tanks and DPS. When you queue up, lets have your undivided attention. I understand RL gets in the way sometimes. But when you queue up, and work with 3 players. Those 3 players have finished any RL priorities before engaging. Lets give them the courtesy of doing the same. We have limited time, lets not waste each other's time on stuff we can prevent.
There are situations that a healer dies so would raise them and heal tank until healer could get back up.Personally, I don’t like this as a healer. Actually a good portion of Stormblood i have had to raise healers and dps and also mana shifted with no ty or comms at the end.
Red Mage is a mana pig now so suits me just fine not bothering anymore and just do dps, people just don't appreciate anything anymore.
If you're healing with a WHM as your profile indicates then yeah.... it's pretty easy because WHM is busted therefore your view is skewed. Othere than that i mostly agree with your points even if they come across as very unforgiving. Everyone messes up.
With that said, I feel like i have been complimented for my healing more often this expansion than previously which is weird because I consider myself a crappy healer.
As someone who is trying to level the 3 main roles (dps, tank, healer) it certainly feels like healers heal less than before (which in my opinion is not necessarily bad but requires some adjustment. healing someone from 10% HP to 80% on one heal was pretty OP) and tanks being slightly squishier + influx of new people to tanking because of GNB are the contributing causes to making it feel like healing is in a really bad state. AST for sure can't power through idiot as well as they used to and it's showing. I don't know about the other healers yet but from my tanking experience i think SCH was the only one that hasn't let me die in a dungeon yet although i think the WHMs let me die for other reasons like... holying too much or mistiming benediciton. Sometimes both.
It's one thing for you to spot heal a tank/the party if you've had to pick up the healer and are waiting for them to raise. It's quite another if the healer isn't even dead but you're taking it upon yourself to Vercure people instead of killing things faster (which would be a far better mitigative tool anyways). There are situations that a healer dies so would raise them and heal tank until healer could get back up.

I'm used to people only saying things when they're upset with me. If someone does praise me, yeah, I'm usually gonna assume they're being sarcastic.
