My bets are leaning more towards Dwarves because of Taro's general aesthetics. In the madness of Drakengard and NieR novella content, he deals more in the less than aesthetically pleasing. Even for Automata, most of the depth is with the machine life forms and grunge over 2Butt.
You still have the extremely sterile aesthetic with YoRHa, from their satellite to most of the characters. You need the pristine to contrast with how ugly and rusted the machines are.
