I've found the best way to deal with the situation is to simply agree with people who think their DNC is bad and say they should play whatever they think is better. The DNC is literally the simplest class to play and if peeps haven't figured it out then they are never going to. When you tell them how to play it properly, their emotional defenses are going to go up and they're going to call you a toxic elitist. Leave them to their fantasy and echochambers.

It doesn't hurt the rest of us, it doesn't hurt them. Everyone is happy.

I know its contrary in your line of thinking. You're just wanting to help. I get it, I want to help too. But in 2019, people don't want help, they want to vent. Just let them have their venting. We do more harm than good by trying to help. It doesn't work anymore.

I wouldn't generalize. There are a lot of players that really appreciate help/tips/advice/encouragement and always will, no matter the year. If some players don't, up to them. But better trying to help than giving up beforehand, in my opinion. In the end, it is what it makes this community much more welcoming than others.

Do any bosses even HAVE enrage timers?

Terminus Bellwether boss in Amaurot could be considered to have an enrage timer I think? Since once you beat the adds it summons, it'll start a slow-cast attack that will wipe the party if it goes off.

I had trouble with this fight as a RDM as well. I had the 430 ilvl class gear on the left, and a mix of 390 & 406 ilvl gear on the right (I'd had 2 drops for caster gear from previous dungeons). I'll agree that taking Y'shatola is preferred, especially over Alisaie.. for 2 reasons. She has the highest/best dps of the 3 trust dps, and she does NOT use the Limit Break - unlike Alisaie who will virtually use the LB whenever it's up. Ryne also doesn't use the LB, so is also an option... but she does less dps (imo) than Y'shatola.

What I ended up doing was saving the LB till close to the wipe-cast going off and then using caster LB. Yes caster LB is the least damage of all the dps LB's (but rdm is my only 80), but as the boss is taking more damage the lower it's hp... it does decent damage. So the small buff from food, taking Y'shatola and using the LB let me beat the fight in the end.

And for those wondering - yes I use the melee combo of RDM, I do use my 2 dps CD's whenever I can... I do try and time them at the same time when possible, ie use Embolden, then Manafacation, then melee combo, then Verflare/holy, Scorch, back to normal.

Note - I should also note that I do have a disability which effects my reactions, reflex's and eye-to-hand co-ordination somewhat. So this does make it harder for me to get through 'tough' fights, or movement heavy fights, or such. On top of that I'm also not in America (I'm on US data center), so have higher lag & latency due to that as well.

During that last bit where you need to dps the boss down quick, I did it as a rdm with Ryne and Uriange, I saved the LB for that bit (got clobbered by some aoes because I couldn't move while the lb was going off) and dpsed it down decently in time, just essentially save all of what ever burst you have for that bit.

And by the way, I’m leveling a DNC now. Granted I’m only doing SB content on it, but I’ve never felt so OP. I’m sure that changes in SHB. But from 60-70 holy crap.

I completed this as DNC, with Thancred, Alphy, and Alisaie. For gear I had the level 80 job's set, and then whatever I looted on the way to 80 (I ran each dungeon only once, so there's that). I had no issues on that boss, as I beat it on the first try, and I'm not the best dancer. So it's perfectly doable without going all out with food, etc.

Just as a reminder, use both Standard Step and Technical Step on CD. Same about Saber Dance, Fan Dance, etc. In other words, don't leave your stronger skills sitting there gathering dust, especially during a DPS check. Also, use Devilment before doing a burst, don't waste in on regular skills, unless you have all the step buffs up and use Flourish. Remember which ones are your most powerful skills, including the AoE ones, and proritize them over the rest when they're up.

It's worth mentioning that while Fan Dance I/II can be saved up to 4 times, Fan Dance III doesn't. So, if it's up, use the latter before you use the former or you'll have lost dps if it triggers Flourishing Fan Dance again. Same thing can be said about Saber Dance, as you shouldn't wait to have the Esprit Gauge at 100 to use it, because you're potentially missing Esprit at that point.

Oh, and this might be obvious, but just in case: Closed Position can be used with NPCs (including during the non-trust instances).
