So I just wanted to get this idea out there for the Nier raids.

So I am spitballing here, I have a feeling that the Nier raids are going to explore where Midgardsormr is from. Since the whole neir franchise is based off dragons and we dont know where midgardsormris from, and well if this has been discussed I didnt see it sorry !

Considering it is a Nier Automata raid its most likely not going to relate to dragons at all.

I mean, if you've looked at that one hedge plant in the Mt. Gulg dungeon it might not JUST be NieR stuff being brought in.

But personally I doubt the raid will involve Midgarsomr. Current signs point towards Amaurot being partially involved and Dragons probably didn't create the machines that are in that one graveyard that almost certainly is foreshadowing the first raid location.

In Nier it was the humans that created the Androids and an Alien race that created the Machines. It was some thing involving a dagon and something else coming over from a different world (Drakenguard) that brought this weird plague thing that turned people into pillars of salt or monsters. Which the Androids were created to help deal with before the Aliens showed up with the Machines. Though humanity was extinct by the time the Aliens showed up.

So Nier Automata has only a very loose tie to dragons at all.

As for "that one hedge plant in Mt. Gulg dungeon" I have no clue what you are talking about. Though the entire palace area is made out of the same kind of stuff the Copied City was made out of in Nier Automata.

    Well spoilers for Drakengard then

The hedge I'm talking about looks like a recreation of the final boss of Drakengard 3, an almagation of all the Intoners starting from Zero that had to be killed by Mikhail because only a Dragon or something made from them could actually do the deed. Said final boss was imbued with the power of the Watchers, to which the destroyed corpse of one of the larger ones that was the final boss of the Drakengard 1 caused the Red Eye plague that would start of the events of NieR. Eve may also have been at least partially possessed by the Watchers though if I remember right Taro said Eve (and more likely, Adam) had found out about them and thus it was just "oh this is cool, lets use this" instead of them actually still being around.

Also the events of Drakengard take place on the same world as NieR just even further in the past with the final battle having the protags and the boss warped to the future for...reasons? It just kinda happens.

But yeah I don't see Dragons factoring in to much though thinking about it I'm not sure if its been hard confirmed that the big egg in Il Mheg is just from one of the hunt marks.

That's what I'm saying that loose connection to dragons being cannon to drakengaurd is the only plausible way to link them. If neir is from the OG world that wont work because there had to be a link, a specific thing that is linking all of them together. It can be a moogle or a certain species or a item, that being said Neir has nothing remotely similar to anything in the FF universe and would be a stretch of the imagination to link them without dragons involved. To maintain the alternate dimensions/universe it has to be linked to draken and has to be linked to dragons. Otherwise it's a stretch and is just fitting neir in because its "cool" I dont want cool I want a coherent and cohesive story.

Also, "army of androids fighting on behalf of makers that, unbeknownst to them, are long dead" fits perfectly if they're Amaurotian.

Just wanted to point out that the Copied City is explicitly made from silicon, while the constructed areas up on Mt. Gulg are implicitly hard Light. The similarities are purely aesthetic, though that doesn't mean there's no connection.

I'll provide something more substantial later, once I'm done mowing the lawn.

A better link to Neir: Automana can be found in the quest Responsible Creation in Amaurot. In it, you find out that a group of Amaurotines have been working on the following concept...

I say “my” latest, but really it's the product of many others' efforts and individual insights. But such is the case for every masterwork, I reckon.
Autonomy notwithstanding, these creations know no fear. They are wholly devoid of emotion, and will without hesitation or resistance engage in any dangerous activity─even if death is assured.
Significantly, the NPC that talks about this does not disappear after you finish the quest. You can go up to him any time in the Bureau of the Architect and talk to him again to have him describe the "autonomous figures" again...

Which... lines up pretty nicely with Neir's general backstory. You've got an advanced civilization that got wiped out and they were working on autonomous creations at the time. Wonder how good the odds are that not all the automatons got destroyed in the calamity... or the sundering... or the flood...

Or very omega, I mean omega and dragons in general are linked.
