This. My only expectation was that "its using a gunblade". the fact it has all of the same limit break names for every single skill form each character, gets the revolver from Squall for the expansion collector's edition, and the /bstance was just icing on top of it all. Blasting Zone was prolly what made me super hyped, I honestly thought that'd be more of an LB thing, raising the sword and making a barrier out of the rianbowy/aurora thing. I think that's the main thing I love about FF14 (and why I hated SB's most of the 8 man raids in SB up until alphascape), is that they don't directly pull 100% from previous games. They remember the idea and find an interesting way to incorporate it into FFXIV. Red Mage prolly being the biggest testament to that, using all forms of spells master of none but in here its got melee and ranged and a rapier and a THINGAMABOB! I had no experience with any other FF's other than FF8, only heard about the others and "knew" about them but otherwise, everything we get from the majority of primal fights to jobs, is always a reference, not a direct copy/paste majority of the time. And thats cool because then it makes FF14 something unique to experience but also gives old FF players something akin to a nod like "ayy, you recognize this thing right?"People can only be disappointed if they had expectations, obviously. You might be right that they overuse the term, or maybe if not we should ask what did they expect and why. I think i am lucky that i have no prior experience with ff games and don't know anything about the jobs and names, what ever the devs of ff14 do, i simply cant relate to prior experiences.
PS: i saw a screenshot on reddit that the female pose with the weapon unsheathed is the same as "lightnings" from ff13.
I wouldn't even say that tbh, its got more armor and doodads on it. Its as much the same as saying they're both trenchcoats... thats about it lol. Not that I'm disappointed by it, I in fact like the aesthetic, though I do kinda wish they put a slit in the back of it because it can look pretty droopy on some races but better on others. I'm SUPER excited to see our relic weapons though because the fact the name of the GNB AF wep is "Lionheart" tells me we're prolly gonna get the good ol blue lionheart we upgrade to in the old game, if not something close or cooler looking. Here's to hoping they don't lock it behind the next "Eureka" though lol.
I have been screaming this since the start of this thread lmao. And same, I really thought it was just a very few and one lil thread about it, I didn't expect such a drastic change for such little complaints. Now there's just a TON of complaints from something that... probably didn't need any changes and sounded fine on its own. I think people jumped the gun 3 weeks into an expac on this too. Funny enough, you can hear how the old solid barrel combo sounds if you watch the GNB first cutscene the Hrothgar uses the combo on someone.I mean....... we already have the weapon and squall's clothes from the rewards thing. Like the job is fine as is and reps both Squall and Siefer.... if you're digging anymore then that I feel like you're reachign too far. Enjoy the job... WE GOT A FREAKING GUN BREAKER!!!!!! Like that is what I should be seeing.. not nit picks about stances and whatnot. THe sounds make sense tho as I didn't know people hated the ones at the start.
