You guys BLM miss Drain?

Hi, I usually play as Healer, but I decided to give BLM a try, and I loved it. I'm not completely familiar with the rotation yet, but I found something weird with the job...

Both SMN and RDM can heal themselves and others with their healing spells. They can even Raise people. But BLM doesn't have this feature...

I know, Black mages are about damaging spells and they shouldn't heal people, but they don't have even drain to heal themselves? Just that shield? SE could even make the shield have no CD, so we could use it whenever we wanted. It's not like we would stack the shield, so while it's up it wouldn't be needed to cast it again. It's just that the shield or a Drain spell would've saved me more than once while in the world and at dungeons as well... What BLMs main think?

Never used Drain as a BLM. Its heal was negligible. You learn to avoid damage, or put up with it.

just bring back drain and turn into blood bath for Ranged Dps and Caster dps

BLM is all about breaking and killing stuff before the enemy really has a solid chance to do good damage to you. Open-world enemies don't last long anyhow. I feel like dungeon enemies don't last long enough either. Plus I have a yellow bird so drain was still pointless imo.

I guess that's where my mentality is wrong. As a healer (or RDM for that matter), while I'm out in the world I usually get all that telegraphed attacks on my face knowing I'll be able to heal them anyway. As a BLM I'm not able to do it... Have to change that mindset...

I suppose it had it's uses in things like Alliance raids where the healers in your party are dead and you're just clinging on to dear life with Drain spam. Though for most content a healer should be with you anyway, but perhaps Manaward could get a slight adjustment seeing as SMN can now get a barrier much more frequently even if it is weaker (by 10%).

My chocobo has Regen, but sometimes it's not enough... T_T

Dungeon mobs usually aren't the issue, since we have a tank. But when everybody dies in a boss and you're last remaining, we wish we had drain...
(I survided the lv.40s Chimera Boss with Drain and got to kill it alone from 15% or such. It was epic)

Lmao you really wanna compare SMN's healing and defensive capabilities with BLM. Now this is really interesting.

SMN doesn't have any sort of healing. Physick might as well not exist. As for Phoenix, it's a 100 potency aoe regen every 100 seconds that won't ever save you from any sort of emergency. The only defensive tool SMN has is Earthern Armor and guess what? In order to use it you have to gimp yourself your DPS to absolutely ridiculous levels because this is the damage that Titan-Egi currently does.




Meanwhile, a BLM can pop manawall and keep dpsing just fine with zero dps loss.
And RDM? Yeah, RDM has indeed defensive tools to heal, but BLM at this point does like 4k damage more than RDM it's beyond insulting.

You are literally complaining over possibly one of the strongest classes right now if not the strongest along with DRG.
