Would love to play some FFXI I played that game for litteraly over 24,000 hrs (about 1000 RL days of game time since the NA release), you can say i was extremely hardcore waking up at 3-5am to kill things, never missing an event if didn't have class or work. I loved that game, unfortunately that game is gone.

But if you have not noticed SE has dealt a death blow to that game with Abysea, it destroyed over 90% of the games content and SE continues to nerf it more and more and as they do more and more people I knew who where sticking with it are quiting. SE removed all the challenge, all the feeling of accomplishment, all the pride of building a strong linkshell, the drive to get better gear and to improve your linkshell to take down hard mobs. Everything that was FFXI is gone it is now as shallow as WoW is. And the population of that game is reflecting it, 2 mergers in 1 year that game is bleeding subs about as fast as FFXIV is atm Fenrir at prime went from 1800 a night to about 600-800 a night as of last Sept. in a year that is about a 60% drop of a servers population.

I would play FFXI only if they rolled back servers to last June and scrap the whole abysea idea and add a expansion that does not massacre everything the game stood for.

FFXI will die no matter if FFXIV lives or not there is literally nothing to do in that game after a short time... you can beat the game and get the best gear in about 2 months now, If FFXIV lives at least we have 1 mmo, if it falls all we have is World of Warcraft left... or the Rift expansion made by another company.

good ol' 11 like I remember it. now give me that coated in 14's graphics and different setting and I would've been sold, like so many others. But like darkstarpoet1 explained they went different ways. Should've just sticked to what's working and have the money flowing. (even if it's less than they aimed for in their failed ambitions.)

oh yeah tons of people loved xi and i'm not saying it was a bad game at all. i just believe their biggest problem was that it was released in the horrid state it was released in.

to me the game in its current condition would be equal to alot of games still in the 1st beta stage. the stage where they are just starting to add content and listen to its fanbase on what they would like to see. i have a feeling after the next few updates if they do happen to add some major content in along with the fixes the game will finally be to the point people expected on release day. people do not want endless grinding with no rewards or having to figure out what part of the game they want to do. i love having the freedom to build up my main, but not being forced to because there is literally nothing else to do.

even if they get the next few patches and some updates this game will have a long way to go to be the game we expect from the makers of the final fantasy series. i mean geez how dare you have a final fantasy with no cid.....chocobos.....airship.....summons.....dangerous boss fights.....captivating story?

You didn't realize how flawed XI's game design is? If they would have released it that way FFXIV would not have done much better at release. The metacritic score probably would be what 60/100? Hell if that... SE then would have only spent millions of dollars just to transfer people from XI(which isn't much). That would have been a greater fall than XIV is experiencing now. Why? because at least this game can make a turn around with potential to grab millions... Something XI's rusted design never had a chance at doing once WoW hit...

The only thing they should have done was salvage the goods XI did have.
