Job Quests: Is that all for this xpac?

For me it made sense that they would not have the individual job quest lines seeing as the new zones are in an entirely different world and making new lore for all the jobs on that shard (and/or writing reasons for the questlines to take place there) would have been too great an undertaking. Sure, they could have set things in the older zones but I imagine they wanted to focus on the new this time around.

The job role quests were an interesting change of pace in my opinion, though I can't help but hope that this won't be the norm for future expansions. I've only done the lvl 80 DNC quest at this time but it didn't do a whole lot for me in terms of tying up loose ends; it left things rather open-ended. I remember Yoshi-P stating in a live letter that the lvl 80 job quests would be considerably longer than usual to compensate for the lack of storyline there, but the DNC one felt rather short to me though I'm not sure how the others are yet.

To be fair they could have made job quests for us that took place in the first and made perfect sense, could have been about how we learn our new skill/spell's from someone there.

It would not have been possible for most of the jobs existence in most cases (I know 1.0 is technically a time where PLD and WAR was a quest), but if we're going by Squeenix gobshite of a lore panel:

PLD wouldn't have been established till 969th year of the Astral umbral era.

MNK during the Sixth Astral calamity

NIN wouldn't have been possible outside of Hingashi, the island nation where it came from (which means "East")

WHM wasn't established till the 5th Astral Era

BLM was established at the peak of the Fifth Astral Era off the island of Yafaem

SMN didn't technically come into its own till the Third Astral Era in the early years of the Allagan empire (which they explain in the story lore)

SCH came during the Fifth astral era under the nation of Nym.

MCH wasn't established till 1483 of the Sixth Astral umbral era (which was inspired by their engineers to build the Skysteel Manufactory) during the dragon war.

The famed author of The Five Ages, the Sharlayan sage Lewphon devoted two decades of his life from the year 210 to the year 230 in the Sixth Astral era to form and complete Astrology.

Dark Knight wasn't an established darkness or class until after the 960th Year of the Sixth Astral Umbral era, and takes place in Ishgard after a proud Knight had seen first hand of sexual assault on a child, and slayed the priest (cause lol this is so much like rl these days) before he was banished and stripped of his title as a knight for slaying a Priest of the holy church.


So no, this would not be possible for some jobs. Maybe some others that have no mention (which is a few like DRG and MNK, or BRD for instand), but not these specifically. It's also written history into the Eorzeapedia book Vol I which describes all this for all the jobs and their origins (for the most part).
