Healers in the new expansion

Damn sure hope they turn out equal, cant say for raid but whm feels broken as hell in dungeon both play as whm/sch and as a tank.

Edit: and it seems like the meta is whm/sch with whm outdamaging ast by 2k dps on average, doesnt look like those cards are helping either as fastest clear time parties are all whm/sch combo. Time to buff ast or nerf whm.

once again you have dmg buffs for others and you have less personal dps this is SAME as dancer ... what is hard to understood that ?

All healers are equal, but some healers are more equal than others.

In our Free Company, no one wants to play any other healer than WHM. For all the events we've done so far (for the extremes and Eden normal mode), we have always only had one healer sign up, when we used to have several people enjoying playing all the healer jobs and we were able to rotate people healing and playing other roles. The Savage is coming in two weeks and it looks like we have absolutely no one willing to play Scholar or Astro, even though a few of us have really given them a chance (my SCH was my 2nd level 80, my AST will be 80 this week). I really hope SE does something soon to make the two other healer job enjoyable (and in the case of AST, capable) again.


Personally, I have never enjoyed playing WHM this much (it having been my main in 1.0 and during Coil). I really like that they moved away from earth and air based spells and into unaspected damage, it feels more white-magey to me. And I just love Misery! Scholar was my previous main, and I loved how the job was designed for pre-emptive healing with powerful shields, maintaining several DoTs, and the decision making between using Aetherflow for damage or healing. With Shadowbringers, I felt they absolutely butchered everything I loved about the job. I have tried to enjoy it, but I just can't. As for Astro, I have never found it personally enjoyable, but even I am aware they lost some really cool features and both their HPS and DPS balancing is that awful right now. I'm having a hard time understanding what they were really going for with these changes, and how on earth were they happy enough to launch Scholar and Astro as they currently are.

I don't think you read what I wrote if you misunderstood it like this. I said we previously had players who enjoyed playing all the healers, now we don't have players who enjoy Scholar or Astro anymore. There's nothing wrong with Scholar's tuning right now (from my understanding), it simply isn't enjoyable to play anymore. Astro, on the other hand, is currently undertuned and the players who previously enjoyed playing it (I'm not one of them) also don't like the ability changes.

Scholar is as strong as it has always been. The reason people dont want to play it anymore is because it's boring now, not because its weak, but because you have nothing to do. Whenever you're not healing (which is around 80-90 percent of the time) you're spamming 1 button and doing literally nothing else. that's boring. if they cut some of the potencies scholar had, gave them a couple more attacks in a rotation, and gave back energy drain or some sort of dps aetherflow dump, without changing the numbers SCH can pull, I promise, a LOT of people would stop complaining.

As for ast, that class barely works anymore. Its healing is pathetic and the buffs it applies hardly matter anymore, they may as well have deleted it. ASTs cant even do basic big pulls without a really good tank, or some extreme luck. (Usually both)

ok, but do you realize with missing dps skills SCH lost a LOT OF in terms damage right ?
and astro is now like 90% of this class users wanted him to be, with balance/spear card mania they were most picked/hunted cards any way

I played all 3 healers in SB and I can tell that SCH was op with this damage/shields a ridiculas healing and astro buffs was too strong

Yet pretty much all the player feedback I've read concerning Shadowbringers Scholar does not concern their DPS potency but the lack of engaging gameplay. I personally agree with what Billythepancake wrote above:

Then again, even if they made Broil 900 potency, I would not play the Shadowbringers Scholar, because the gameplay is not engaging.

The only reason that AST and SCH even have a place in the meta right now (and even that might not last) is the fact that WHM only has one shield.

I respectfully disagree with this. Scholar has lost dmg, but his healing ability is still top notch. I'd argue better than WHM still.

However he lost a lot of the fun doing dmg with the class and obviously his dmg suffered. Imo the developers should add ED and so on back.

Last but not least, the fairy changes make me sad. But i admit those were absolutely necessary to be able to balance the classes better. Lets be real pre ShB the fairy was completely broken and one of the reasons was the ability to use their skills during broil casts.
