I am not talking about in general if male viera will have 'rabbit-like' features, I am talking about that specific render, and it just looks like a young teenager with rabbit ears on his head. He even has the hairstyle every kid had back in 2008. It might be unfinished, but they would have to change it drastically to add actual 'rabbit-like' features. Of course if male viera actually came out they would probably have features similar to that of the females, 'rabbit-like' nose/mouth. That's a given.I disagree.
"The model I showed is not finished yet. From what I understand, the twitter user creating this model is observing the facial structure of the female viera, or rather the rabbit-like structure of their faces, and translating that onto their own model. One thing this user could improve upon is making their nose more rabbit like, but otherwise, I think something like this would be a great face option."
The face is similar to that of miqo'te.
It is very likely that the male viera face will look similar to male miqo'tes face, or have rabbit-like features. The concept art I showed before furthers that point, but I will present another art piece from the other concept art to further this point even more:
We DID wipe on the fight. We were not expecting a lot of what happened..

I disagree. As Alleo had mentioned before, we also have to understand the japanese can have a different view on what handsome means. Yoshida mentioned they would be slim, elegant, and handsome, and the concepts show this quite clearly. Yoshida muses on about how the male viera face would look - similar to that of male miqo'te. The concept art shows this as well. I suppose the face is not handsome by western standards, but it is a handsome, adult male face by another culture's standards.
The model I presented looks similar to that of the concept art above.
The twitter user mentioned they were using Aymeric's hair as a base. The hair will probably look different on the completed model.
I'm confused, I thought the Japanese version of beauty was more akin to that of the Elezen, while Miqo'te is more western? Are they not the slimmest, elegant and subjectively the most handsome race - as is the case with most MMO/RPGs and elves. I have high doubts they'd be using a miqo'te facial model, they're too round. For one of them maybe, as it the case with most of the races, of course. Most folks associate a round face to that of youth - and thus we have the phrase 'baby face'.
Anyway, I decided to try Elezen out once more, and while covering then neck with some of the glamour they're not too bad. Very elegant, very attractive looking and of course, tall. I could get used to this.
Note; I was also of the mind that in terms of biology Japanese are much more likely to have higher cheekbones and straight/pronounced jaws line.

To me, the elezen facial structure is handsome by western standards. It's very regal.
Miqo'tes face does not seem western to me. It comes off as more... anime, honestly.

I suppose their face/head shape would be similar, but there is enough to differentiate these two races such as viera's rabbit like nose, height, pose, and so on. I wouldn't necessarily say this is an unwise choice, as female viera seem to be doing very well at the moment. I do realize that this number may go down over time, but regardless, I believe female viera will still be one of the popular picks.

Speaking of anime, I think Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan would be great as a base model for what male viera could look like:

Ah, I suppose it may be due to location as well. I'm a lot more used to seeing males who have Miqo'te like faces where I'm from. But that's just a way of diet and lifestyle. Anyway, while they could go for the Miqo'te face, then I'd have to ask why both of the 'animalistic' races are overly similar, more so than they should be. I don't think it'd be that wise of a choice. They'd already be 'close' as is - why make them even closer, you know?

I support there being playable male and female options of all races. I thought that Yoshi-P had committed to that, so I was really shocked when the Viera and Hrothgar announcements came out. I have been a Miqote since launch, and male Viera was the only race option I might have changed for. Alas.
I love these! Doing the thicker eyebrows really helped make the face look more masculine.I know I'm late for this, but when I saw your post before, I did not post nothing because this thread is full with screenshots of my character (And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I was the first person who tried the "super mario" mustache on a viera). You can see my posts here:

I'm working on a drawing too, but it's not finished yet (I was on Praetorium, I was really bored. Maybe i will finish this at next Praetorium run)
I should actually post some screenshots of my other character (I have two actually, just only posted the one). Maybe do a draw-over for him, too. Honestly I feel like he looks more masculine than Jona (pink-haired bun) anyway, so people might be a bit more receptive.
I would love to see the another one. If I can told you a tip, try to use lipstick to "fade off" the lips. Even with the option "none" on lipstick, the girls lips on this game is very demarcated (for example, compare on this post here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...01#post4995401 the miqo'te's and viera's lips. I used this trick on my "male viera". If you see, the lips are faded (you can see my current lips here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/385710-Male-Viera-as-a-playable-character%21-show-your-support?p=5026334#post5026334).I love these! Another trick is to faded the Rava's cheeks. Girls in this game have shine cheeks. I don't have one example for this, it depends of the skin tone and it will be a very, very, very small change , but if you notice that the cheeks of your viera are too shine, try to put the blush with options "light" and "black" color (this will not be able if you use the eyebrows trick, because they are in the same option).
It's very small changes, but it will be the diference
