You misunderstand. The suggestion was that the tokens are condensed into 1. That one token can get you any gear piece so long as you have the sufficient quantity. Once the loot unlocks, meaning you aren't restricted to 1 per floor per week, people would only bother doing the easiest floor along with 4 for the weapon. What drops where now doesn't matter.

I thought the suggestion was that you get a coin once per week per raid.
So for example, if you did 1,2,3,4 - that's 4 coins. You wouldn't be able to do 1 again to get another coin unless they were unlocked.

Whyre you hoarding Currencies?

I dont get how anyone has a million currencies in there inventory. If you have Delta scape bolts, dump em. Theyre not gonna be superior to Alphascape bolts which you can gather easily (or poetic gear). If you have a ton of totems from EX modes, finish the farm or get rid of them. If you only have like 8 and youre thinking "Man, I wanna buy that mount!" but then dont spend any time farming the other 91, thats kinda being a packrat. This is even worse if youre hoarding totems from HW. You really shouldnt be having inventory issues over currencies.

From what I understand, you only get one token per raid each week. So you can get 4 tokens every week. What type of token is decided by luck, so you will still need to pray to RNGesus te get the tokens you need that week.

Don't get why SE always makes everything so darn complicated when it comes to grinding content.

No. I like the Deltascape Samurai armor sets. Once I get another class to 70, I'll start spending them to get a new Samurai-styled gear set.

I assume they have to remain as items not currencies, or they wouldn't be able to go in the "loot roll" table.

It also affects the structure of the shop - it seems that any one shop menu can sell things for a single currency, or offer a variety of item trade-ins.

So if they changed the tokens to be currencies, and wanted to maintain the "collect specific pieces" system, they'd also need to rearrange the shop so there was one menu that sold all the hats for hat currency, then another menu selling body gear for body gear currency, and so on.
