Now you're acting as if you or anyone else actually bothers reading the TOS when they start playing the game, which we all know is completely detached from reality. You just looked them up now that you became aware that fflogs/ACT exists.

I'm sorry but a licsense distributor will definetly take action against you for a breach of tos. It goes both ways Legally.

What you assumed was a miss. Dunno if it was ment as provocation or? Anyways, I've known about parsers. It never bothered me because it wasn't affecting me. I was content with the "don't ask don't tell" stance SE has. Now I find out that I manually have to opt out from automatically being included in something that breaches tos, and that this has been used on occation to flame and shame. I'm not content with that.

Include parsers in the tos.

Technically anyone could open a blog and publicly post all of your combat actions from a duty with timestamp and damage done out of combat chatwindow into a blogpost and manually calculate your DPS based on that, it's literally the same thing.

All this reminds me of traffic laws. It's illegal to go over the speed limit. Yet, if you drive at the speed limit, you "disrupt traffic" because people begin to beep at you, tailgate you, and pass you. Society at large expects you to break the speed limit because they break the speed limit as well. And yet, traffic tickets are still a thing.

Technically they could be yoinking chat logs as well as the numbers in hopes of finding passwords and other sensitive information.

Thats the issue with third party programs. We don't know. SE doesn't know.

As odd it as it sounds I found playing dps classes boring without ACT, prior the only feedback that I was actively contributing to the group was kill speed, but that was melded in the groups performance. Knowing my own numbers allowed me to enjoy DPS classes more since I had a means of measuring my contribution to the party. Though I will agree FFLogs should be 100% opt in instead of out. I get it is a data driven site but I do not think the data would greatly impacted if it was fully opt in instead of out.

If SE wants to ban FFLOGS they need to implement some sort of DPS parser themselves. Even a grading scale after bosses would work. S-A-B-C-D-F.

There needs to be some sort of metric that lets players know how they're doing, otherwise they'll never get better.

I believe dps meter and healer meter leave little room for player work on improve themselves on they own time. if in fact this tool is 3rd party then site should be taken down if people be kick for low dps then the site should be taken down

I remember I used hag out on site for ffxiv before the launch of 2.0

I mean if SE put "May contai third party programs" in the tos then I'll be holden. If they however enforce their own contract and shot down the site, then I'll also be golden.

Square Enix has no intention to actually enforce though.

During the first ultimate world race, Square Enix themselves linked Twitch streams of world first proggers, each and every one of those had a visible DPS meter on their stream and again > Square Enix linked those streams.

The only times they are willing to take action is if you actively (in game I add) harass other players with it.

But just using it and uploading your parses they basically say go ahead.

So you prefer to keep wiping to enrage for the remaining 3 hours of your raid because you don't want to kick the player that has too low DPS to finish the encounter?
