There are even design mechanics that are already being used that can be used to significantly improve apartments.
Like this open window design that can possibly be used to design an instanced balcony, it even follows day and night cycle and weather conditions.

A lottery system would be terrible. A bandage on an issue that doesn't need to exist. Don't encourage lazy implementation of such a system when they could fix the real issue by adding wards. They have the money to buy more servers for more capacity. Make them use it.Housing lottery system would be ideal. You apply to be granted ownership of the land/house in question and the game notifies you if you were successful in obtaining the land/house at which point you pay for the house. At this point it would probably be fine to only allow people to apply for ownership of one house at a time, if they prefer another location that opened up they can cancel the first and then apply for the 2nd location. If someone doesn't pay for the house in maybe 3 days it would be released back to the public to opt in for.
Alternative is of course instanced housing. Either way looking forward to positive changes in the Ishgard housing patch.

Please. I've played this game since before its 2.0 release. I raid. I've sampled every type of content and I have a very good bet that I've spent more time in this game than you have. I'm not here just for the housing. But it's a system that nevertheless takes up a not insignificant portion of my sub to develop and we're locked away from it.If you see the game as a punishment, perhaps you shouldn't be paying to play it.
SE said they'd be working to address the housing situation after all launch content is released. That doesn't mean we'll see an immediate solution. It can take time to implement changes.
As for the idea that housing is the most important thing in the game, it's not. This is a game built around combat and adventure. That content will always come first. Housing is side content it will never be their priority when it comes to use of development resources.
If you want a game where housing is your primary content and a priority to the development team, you need to look elsewhere because this game will never satisfy you. Choose a game that provides what you want instead of expecting a game that exists for different reasons to change to please you.
The only thing baffling is your assertion SE doesn't want to do anything about housing. They have already made many changes over the years to improve the system and have stated they are working on more.
You have a house and you probably have nothing to complain about. That's why you're taking this air of superiority and condescension. Had you been in our place instead, you'd 100% be singing a different tune so please, spare us.
Housing system is garbage, period. This is a fact whether you accept it or not and their multiple references to it needing to not be garbage anymore is proof of this. I've eaten the "server strain" cookie for a LOT of things in FFXIV but after consecutive years of this being Square's most profitable game in their fiscal year reports, the notion that they cannot add or improve their servers is asinine and so are you if you believe it. I don't think it's Yoshida's or his team's fault because he's a director and they're a team of developers, not an executives, not board members. I do think it's Square Enix's lack of caring, however. This is not their first MMORPG and PlayOnline was notoriously garbage as well.
The game's servers (and their unnaturally awful base ping) are the way they are because you're still here. Make absolutely no mistake.
Though I wouldn't expect a much better argument from someone whose nuggets of wisdom comprise of saying that supporting an argument with an emotional claim (in something inherently emotion-driven as entertainment, which is a literal set of emotions) and an "adult conversation" are antithetical, implying human emotions aren't inherent which is, ironically, one of the least mature things anyone over the age of 15 can ever say.

Then stop trying to get a house. Stop engaging in mechanics you personally think are garbage. You are causing your own misery.
What is wrong with you people? Stop harassing people who just want to participate in housing content they are paying $15 a month for. A LOT of people are desperate for housing because its an alternate form of end game for them. Me included. To be denied a feature we are paying $15 a month to play is not ok, no matter what the excuse is. And people who abuse the system to deny it to others should be punished severely. That is my 2 cents. SE has dramatically under estimated housing demand for their western audience, and it needs to be addressed. Lets not beat around the bush, this is a serious problem, and i accuse anyone who doesn't agree of supporting rmt transactions. End of story.

I would absolutely love to see Crystarium housing. SE please make it happen!
Player : フェアリーのミラプリも作ってるんですか?
(Any plan on Fairies glamour?)
Yoshi'p Sampo: フェアリーはエギではないので、予定がないです。残念ながら。
(Since Fairies aren't Egi so, No.)
One thing I always wonder is how big of an issue is it really as it pertains to the entire player base? I remember when they added wards the last time. People were saying FC are locked out of content, they need access first, etc. I transferred into one of the new wards during the initial relocation, FC only phase. The only houses taken during that entire initial period were the larges, the one prime medium spot and the three beach front smalls. So where were all the FC that needed houses? When they opened it up to everyone it took a long time for the wards to fill up in the Mist. I would have thought the houses would have been snatched up in a matter of 2-3 days.
I've been shocked at how many people I talk to that just don't care about housing. If you look at the total number wards available on a server, and the average number of active players on one like Siren, the number of people without housing is very large. However, I may see 10-15 people camping a plot. So, of the total number of players without a house, how many is it an issue for?
I say all this because if SE is making a roadmap of future projects they're going to base it on the things that affect the largest portion of active players, or appeal to new players. Also, if it's more of a large server issue, housing is one of the only pieces of leverage they have to get people to transfer to lower populated servers.
They may add new wards here and there, but it just may not be at the fore front of things they're devoting resources to revamp the current system, upgrade apartments, or create instanced housing.

That's pretty funny![]()

There were implications during one of the FanFests before ShB's release that there may be future Ishgard housing, yes. However, there has not yet been definitive confirmation this will be the case since that time. If it does end up coming our way, I'm not sure we'd be getting it as early as 5.2 like Shirogane was for 4.2, unless of course SE intends to surprise us with it. I feel like we'd have more information by this point otherwise, but I could be wrong.
