    Soul Eater is an cool skill I would not remove it BUT its that kind of skill you dont want to see too often you know what i mean? it dont look like an combo finisher more like an opener or second after the opener. It dont feel satisfying to use it.
    Yeah, that is pretty much how I feel at this point. While I have been (mostly) refraining from commenting on DRK until I get it to 80 proper, I can't help but find Souleater very boring to look at after 4 years of playing this job. I would honestly not even mind if they redid the scourge, powerslash, and (old) delirium animations to look more Souleater-y in terms of effects and then make the animations random at this point—if that's something that could even be done.

    Even then, I feel like some of our skills just look odd and don't flow together. At least none of them clip terribly at all, I suppose.

    Anyways, back to leveling!

    @Agner exactly what you said. they dont flow good together this is what im meaning. i dont know why they removed that pretty good animations.

    i wonder if the devs care about coolness in their skill animations. too many people only care about DPS and stuff so they ignore the animations. they just read the numbers and need good stats but how boring is that? a game is supposed to be fun so i dont understand those people who dont even care about the animation and even hate them because they have "animation lock" so they want the animation to be done as fast as possible to spam their other skills. i want to see all skills in their full animation lol.

    so i wonder if the devs care about that or just make skills without giving effort into the look and visual effects of the skill.

    its so ironic that they make some skills who look very flashy and then they make some skills who look so sh... compared to the flashy ones. its just like 2 different dev teams made the skill designs. its like each skill got a changed formula and not all made by the same person which is very sad.

    GNB, SAM, DRG(R.I.P. Impulse Drive), MNK(R.I.P. Howling Fist), and DNC look cool with their animations, and all feel good when you use their abilities, it's just every other job that looks and feels boring to use if you don't treat those abilites as GCDs...

    I had a debate with a friend about dark knights and came up with an idea that Delirium should be an ability that allows incoming damage to be absorbed and staggered (taken over 10 seconds after Delirium finishes), except for damage meant to kill you as part of a mechanic. All incoming heals would be reduced to zero, and damage is increased by a percentage based on total missing hp upon activation of Delirium with a maximum limit, of course. This would essentially turn pain into power, a nod to old dark knights sacrificing some hp in order to deal more damage. And it wouldn't be a life-saver skill, really, since you still take all the damage you normally would have taken after Delirium's effect ends, as a DoT over 10 seconds.

    The problem with that is that you would need to delete Living Dead for that to work, and it needs to instantly heal you to full HP, because DRK are in the tank role. And apparently the devs like Living Dead whereas everyone else hates it... so good luck trying to delete Living Dead any time soon...

    How’s this going to work on a tank job? They designed DRK in XIV so it converts mana into damage instead of hp.

    Plays like a Warrior, but has Soul Eater: "DARK KNIGHT!"

    Suggested form -- gameplay based off the most liked parts of its HW and SB kits, but isn't spamming Soul Eater: "Eww, more like... Dark Warrior."

    I kid, but c'mon, Souleater as it stands is mere flavor text lip service anyways that does less to contribute to "DRK-ness" than even a Trait by the same name likely would, so why is this the make or break?

    That's literally one of the most useful mechanics available to tanks in other MMOs. Being able to converting a one-shot into tenable periodic damage is a huge advantage, yet isn't normally balanced too harshly for. It's kind of like Holmgang -- huge functional value and relatively little throughput, often allowing it absurd frequency.

    Well, let me ask you this, then: what would you prefer? Taking 100k damage in one big burst? Or taking 10k damage per second over 10 seconds? Any non-white mage would probably have a stroke if the tank suddenly takes 100k damage, considering we have a total of around 120-130k hp (I think) at 80, as of 5.0.

    @DRKoftheAzure

    Delete Living Dead? Why? If anything, it would work best *with* LD. Think about it. You're at 30k hp and you're about to take a buster that will definitely kill you. Activate this Delirium and that damage is absorbed and staggered. Once the damage starts ticking, and you know for sure the healers can't bring you back up, turn on LD. While you're taking that staggered damage, on top of the damage the boss is currently slapping you in the face with, you remain at 1 hp, thus triggering Walking Dead, giving your healers that much more time to heal you. You can also cast TBN to absorb some of that DoT to not only help out your healers but give you another chance at Edge/Flood. All the better if there's a white mage in the team, but not required. A scholar can throw out a recitation + adlo, on top of your TBN, to absorb even more of the DoT and whatever else the boss is doling out.

    This assumes, of course, that the SCH and AST can bring you back up. Shouldn't be too hard with the big bump in healing power they got from this xpac. Plus, one of the biggest complaints of healing is that there isn't enough to heal, right?
