Playing a female WoL feels so natural for the story

Pretty sure my character could have been a rock worm and I'd have felt the story was great lol. I don't think I agree, but hey it's your character and your story so whatever :P. You're free to like your female WoL more.

Yeah, you can definitely feel like they wrote the story in such a way that anyone, no matter what gender or sexuality, could really feel like their character is the WoL. It is such a wonderful thing to see that the story is so non-gendered and that as far as romantic interests goes both men and women displays what could be read as romantic interest in you, but could as well always be ignored, it works so well for the MMO narrative. I also really enjoy how many politically powerful and influential women there are in the story and how much screen time they have been allowed, that is in my opinion one of the most empowering parts, especially back when the game launched and almost all characters of actual authority in video games were men. It might sound silly to some people who are very used to it, but trust me positive representation is important once in a while.

I know this is a common theme with Square Enix who are actually very good at writing characters and worlds that feels welcoming to everyone, but it is still something I agree with is worth to point out every once in a while.

Considering this game borrows from a quasi-medieval era in its storytelling it makes perfect sense why gender representation was imbalanced. It was replicating an era beautifully.

Now, however, the lines are blurred. It seems like they are borrowing from all walks of life - present included - in an effort to please the masses with equal representation.

Sometimes I wish that we’d accept that equality is nonexistent and that you cannot please everyone.

I don't really think it's that deep. Just enjoy the game as you like and your head-canon, if you have one.

Shadowbringers just did a very good job of immersing me in general, at least. It felt personal.
