NPC referred to as opposite gender, or perhaps is

Date and time: July 4, 2019 1:00 PM (ADT)
    NPC: Zoi-Chorr
    Quest: The Invisible Hand
    Location: Eulmore (x10.1, y9.4)
    Steps:
    1. Accept quest "The Invisible Hand"
    2. Check journal, read description
    3. Speak to Bosta-Loe nearby

Zoi-Chorr is male, yet the journal and Bosta-Loe refer to him as "she" and "her".
Or perhaps Zoi-Chorr is just set as the opposite gender by accident.

She uses a female animation set and has a female only hairstyle. when the devs make an npc, they use the character creator. these are things you can't do in the CC. seems pretty intentional to me!

I immediately noticed that as well! Could be accidental, could be deliberate, but it's very definitely a male character model being referred to with female pronouns.

It's not a female-exclusive hairstyle - in fact that exact version is male-exclusive, as the female version has ringlets at the front. They're also wearing a male-exclusive shirt.

Emotes are separate to the character creator, and there are all sorts of animations that the programmers have access to but the players don't. Our characters do things in cutscenes that we can't make them do with emotes.

For a direct example of characters using a non-standard version of an emote - the standard bow emote for male Elezen is that very dramatic sweeping bow, but Urianger often does a simple version that I think might be borrowed from Hyuran emotes, or might just be a custom animation that players can't use.
