Looking at XIVcensus they are 3rd by popularity now. Decent, considering that they are not exact "cuuuuutie" concept like female Au Ra are (female Miqo'te are more on sexy side, but still cute concept too). And I see at least one Viera almost in every run to dungeon so it can be matter of Server/DC.

Eh.. you mean Au ra are sexy and miqo's are more cute. I don'tsee miqo as sexier than au ra.... Au ra has curves and better breathing animations. Miqo'tes are just.... cute. And mostly flat in the cures department. But that's just me.

To make it easier to look at the data, I made some tables.



Out of the female races, Roegadyn and Elezen were hit the hardest, both losing 10% of their population. Au Ra also lost a lot at 8%, but they still vastly outnumber both Roegadyn and Elezen. Lalafell only lost 2%, which doesn't surprise me too much. One of the biggest reasons why people play Lalafell is because they're tiny, which is something Viera doesn't offer. It should come to no surprise that the top 3 are the "waifu" races. I'm sure it's going to stay this way until the game is finally shut down.



Most of the male races actually saw an increase in their population. Except for Roegadyn, which was hit hard, losing 10% of its population.

Roegadyn are exceptionally rare now. Think of it like this. There are more Hrothgar out there (23,307) than there are male and female Roegadyn combined (22,682). The people who were worried and expressed concerns about the Roegadyn population being thinned out by Hrothgar and Viera were absolutely right.

But yeah ... I HAVE noticed I see way more Hrothgar than Roebros.

Oddly enough, a lot of Elezen females made the switch because of just that. Viera are bunny eared Elezen with better proportions. For people who wanted a tall, elegant race, they now have that.

Correction, they now have 2 options for that. Female elezen are still an option even if there's a better looking black coded version of that out now.

Tis exactly why I didn't go Viera. I was a Femroe, I played Femroe for years and there's a reason I never played Fem Elezen. Viera emotes and animations being reserved and "well made low effort" AF doesn't do it for me.

Some of the more modern stuff looks awesome. I didn't have access to the internet during last years summer event or whatever, so I missed the sunglasses, and stuff, and I am impatiently waiting for them to be added to mogstation.. I also love the converse shoes this game has, probably my favorite shoes in the entire game. They even have a little bit of armor on them, so even a warrior can wear them!

Because I actually DO know dudes who are dudes IRL who make their characters Waifus, and I know there's a large prevalence of those kind of people in this game, and that there are probably a fair proportion of new Viera who are those. I know at least one Viera already who is a dude that makes Waifus. I didn't say that everyone that dresses provocatively are dudes
I am just saying that dudes who make characters for the purpose of being their waifus, and make them scantily clad only for that reason is kinda weird.
It's like "LoOk At My IdEaL fEmALe. I WiSh sHe wAs ReAL"
I mean, it's only kinda weird, not full blown weird, so they don't bother me too much.
That being said, a chick who makes a male character as a Husbando and dresses them scantily is equally kinda weird.

I prefer to dress my characters badass too, and I think Viera really suit the badass look although I went for a more cute look for my dancer, rather than going the scantily clad route. Randoms kept patting me too much when my dancer was more scantily clad :/
