    ARR was certainly rough, although I can appreciate why, as an attempt to sorta reward every aspect of content you could get into. And honestly it's still a bit of a ballache today. But, I can't really recall any step of HW that required millions of gil, or high level crafting. From what I can tell/remember, the only such step has been completely mitigated by offering those items from Grand companies. There's still some long grindy steps, but none of it is really gated behind non-combat content.

    I have nothing else to add to this discussion. Except, it seems like relic grinds are always going to be a point of complaints. I'm not sure it's even possible to make them in a way that pleases any/everyone, while also still being challenging/rewarding (or, at the very least, time consuming).

    If they did this, then the next 'Baldesian Arsenal' could be gated behind the initial mechanic of gemstones or something, instead of all that faff of spawning certain FATEs in Eureka and activating portals.
    Ah I didn't know that was what they are tying for. I hope it works out.

    The are really only 2 things I'd like to see *not* return for relics
    1. An instanced zone in which you do everything. I personally like to be able to do 2 or 3 things at once.
    2. Tied to crafting/desynth items. The early part of ARR relic was ok, but when it came to the tail end of the quest line with desynth was annoying and honestly i still haven't cleared it.

    I support this idea wholeheartedly. I could see them using Tempest as a starter point since it has a certain blacksmith located there. In fact, I'm almost 100% positive he will have a role to play in the relic for sure.

    Come to think of it, it doesn't make any sense for him to be there simply to give us our one time only AF gear.

    I can see us gathering various materials via FATEs and hunts across Norvrandt to provide him with what he needs to upgrade our weapons, then us testing them out in some kind of instanced area for subsequent stages. Maybe.
    If they're Amaurotian themed, then an 'enchanted' instance of some kind could be in the table, perhaps showing what parts of the world were like for them before the apocalypse.

    I agree with the certain-blacksmith being there in the final area we'll have something in the overworld. Or, it will be a mix of Norvandt and Eureka and the NPC to travel will be there as well.

    It is interesting to see him there but not surprising especially with his own building and forge. I simply hope we get something newish but at the very least with a combination of overworld content. I'm not going to be interested if we get another rehash of the ARR/HW relic chases.

    Yeah, the gil heavy part was only with the initial patch. I feel like the dev team learned their lesson by putting those worthless items in the Grand Company shops.

    I would actually prefer they create new zones, instead of just using what we currently have. This way they can use them in MSQ, add more stronger monsters that makes our gear useful for them, more places to explore etc

    Don't think I'd mind it, tbh.

    This game has a lot of beautiful and huge zones that go largely underutilized once they serve their respective purpose for MSQ and a few other things. Would prefer those zones to be used. I always saw Eureka as some sort of damned quarantine zone.
