Hrothgar Players

Unfortunately, "waifu" races (in this case, Miqo'te, Au Ra, and Viera) have a stereotype of being mostly played by socially-challenged "neckbeards".

The idea is that if you run into a female character in a skimpy outfit, it's likely a rude and slobbish guy who's playing it.

Of course that's just a stereotype. It doesn't necessarily explain why you've encountered rude "waifu" characters.

It could also be the fact that catgirls are so crazy popular and numerous that you're bound to run into many personality types. According to the June 2019 census, there were more catgirls than hyur girls, lalafell girls, elezen girls, and roegadyn girls combined! That's a lot of cat girls, which means all kinds of people play it; whereas other less popular races might appeal to certain smaller crowds.

I will say this though. The few female roegadyn players I met were all actually played by women. And roegadyn players (both men and women) that I've met have generally been polite and social.

But in the end, it's never good to generalize. There will always be exceptions.

That's an awful generalization, man. Let's not go there and start attacking people. You don't know what any of these players look like or who they are. So, I take it since you are a male Au Ra, that must mean you are one of those hot gamer men with abs and jock-like personality?

I can tell you I may play Viera, but I am far from socially-challenged and a neckbeard. I just happen to love the Viera since FFXII was one of my favorite FF and I love Fran. I'm also super nice and go out of my way to help people when I can. Acting like a majority of people who play attractive female characters are big, fat slobs is probably far from the truth.

It's only natural for them to be, they're big, floofy, and shaped like friends. They undoubtedly give the best and warmest hugs too (this isn't up for debate).

That being said though I am curious to know the "stereotypes" for players of the other races for fun's sake lol...

Unfortunately I think this is just a case of a small population of players that play them, so statistically you're less likely to encounter rude people who are Hrothgar.

On the flip side, I met an extremely rude one in Dun Scaith yesterday. We wiped on the first boss (naturally) and when someone said the healers in other alliances needed to be rezzed and that's why it failed, and I said they wouldn't need to be rezzed if they just didn't die in the first place , so I was defending the other healers. It's kind of hard to die on that fight unless you're just not dodging the easily dodged mechanics. This guy flipped out and told me to stop complaining, that I was so negative, and super annoying. I hardly said anything. They then proceeded to explain mechanics after they happened and it was too late to react to them (oh and sometimes the advice was just "I forget this fight, so just kill this clown"), so I assume they were just fishing for praise or to be seen as some hero, and were only nice to people who sucked up to them.

Anyway, as nice as it would be to know all Hrothgar players are nice, that's not the case. There's just less Hrothgar players overall.

I've not met a mean Hrothgar yet either, but to be honest everyone of all races has been nice so far lol. Usually I find those negative occurrences happen more in the high stress content, which I haven't got to yet hehe (strictly speaking my shadowbringers experience thus far).

Anyway, as nice as it would be to know all Hrothgar players are nice, that's not the case. There's just less Hrothgar players overall.

The council of Hrothgar would like you to reconsider, else we must non-optionally invite you to our rehabilitation camp.. a wonderful place where you're free to believe that which we tell you, absolutely lovely place!

People were blaming the healers in one alliance for not rezzing the healers in another. I was defending the former by saying it's not their fault the latter died. No part of that is "super annoying", especially when it's the only thing I said. That player (that super nice Hrothgar player) was being extremely sensitive. You zeroing in on that tells me that you're okay with people getting carried and blaming the people who won't carry them.

Besides, I never said I was nice. I'm not the one with rose tinted glasses here.

I don't understand. I explained that it was a stereotype; I worded it in a way to show that it was not my belief, but rather an idea that's out there. I also stated that, due to the high number of Miqo'te characters, that all kinds of people play Miqo'te (and I extend that sentiment to female Au Ra and Viera as well). At the end of my post, I also stated that it's never good to generalize either. What I'm trying to say is, I agree with you. I'm on your side.

I've actually noticed that too, especially since a lot of Roes became them.

Between those two races everyone I met has been neutral to just extremely nice. I met one while I was on Primal who played from Australia and managed to beat UCoB on his ping and went into detail about how crazy it was. We were grinding for Skalla gear for about two hours and went into the whole mentality of people getting angry at advice being offered politely after multiple wipes and just not admitting as to what they are getting wrong. It was surreal for me because I normally have those types of conversations between reddit and facebook but in game it almost always ends up being with Roes and now Hrothgar.

Haven't met a bad one either way but I've met more Hrothgar's coming from WoW into XIV, which is refreshing.
