pug levelling, case of very bad tank. run and aggro everything as much as he can, no defensive cooldown, didnt even try to dodge telegraph attack, HP keep going down faster than i can type "please wait"

    tank: "help dps lazy healer"
me: "i will if your hp not dropping so fast"
tank: "thats your fault" <------ how the F?

2nd pull, same thing happened. tank is pissed and leave, both dps just laugh, disband party.

for the love of god, yes iam healer yes i can help dps, but dont order me to dps when your HP is barely reaching the word "HP" on the UI.

Just got out of a Castrum run where both tanks had tank stance on during the ENTIRE dungeon.
Aggro was bouncing between both tanks who weren't standing with each other when holding one mob, and when one tank would come through for a mass pull and use their AoE attack, the other would wait until the other tank had run off and use their AoE attack so the mobs would immediately stop in their tracks.
As a healer going through the dungeon having two tanks on opposite sides of the map taking a considerable amount of damage, it was doing my head in.

When I decide to pipe up and say, "Can I just ask, which one of you is the off tank?"
I get a response from one of the tanks "You can ask that."
Followed by another response from the same tank who says (spelling errors and all),
"Jokes aside, this isn't Bahamut Extreme. It's Castrum. You cast a Medica or Aquildelum (sic) or... Card Toss... and you go back to your Sedoku (sic) puzzle. Doesn't hurt to have us both in Tank Stance; makes it easier to snag something that got missed"
Oh and the kicker? This tank was a mentor who already had every tank to 70 and Paladin to 80. Such a nice thing to hear from a mentor in one of the final dungeons of 2.0. Casting the healers aside because we don't have to do anything.
So I took his advice. I gave him one Adlo after that. Luckily I was in discord with the other healer, who was an Astro, who gave him, you guessed it... one card. We then focused healing on the tank who didn't make the comment listed above.

Just need to ask though... Is this the new meta now for 8 mans? Both tanks with tank stance on getting huge pulls on opposite sides of the map and expecting both healers to be in 2 places at once?
I understand what he means. 100% I get it... but as a tank, with the enmity changes for 5.0, it would be virtually impossible to not gain aggro and hold it above the DPS. You could tickle the mob with a feather and you'd hold its aggro for 20 years. If both tanks are in tank stance and not on the same page, you just have an aggro war.

Or you know one tank can drop the stance like OT generally does until it's needed you know like every good offtank on the planet starts out doing and only pops it back on when they need to voke off the other tank to save them from horribad death. I dont know why the simplest answer was overlooked.

That would definitely have been the better option. I would have welcomed that if that had happened. But since the tanks were on different servers, I don't think they knew each other and both of them wanted to MT.
I don't know why my question was met with such a snarky comment when either the PLD or the DRK could have dropped their stance and made it so much easier for the rest of the dungeon. But neither of them did. We had two MT and two OT... who were trying their best to be the MT.

It's really fun. I was a WAR tank main in 4.0 and wasn't a big fan of the animation changes they got in 5.0 so I went to GNB. I liked the weight of their attacks in the trailers and the aesthetic was nice.

Having the job fully leveled up rocking 439 IL it still feels nice but my biggest complaint is superbolide's shield activating after the hp hits 1. I'm starting to tank EX content now (mainly DPSed for EX/Savage) and the HP drop does lead to some issues with my ping. It's clutch when it works out but I've had some situations where I pop it out fine on my end but it ends up killing me almost instantly from an auto. Probably going to invest in something like Mudfish to help with that problem though.

I was expecting a fusion of PLD/WAR going in but it feels more like DRK/PLD in terms of it's mitigation, DoT keep-up, and just it's general feel. It's nice.

Did a few trials last night as an AST for funsies and one of my co-healers was a WHM that had under 3k HP. They died a few times, along with the SAM who died while the MT was pulling. Eek. It was only Ifrit's Hard mode.

Yeah. I can help keep a tank up and dps but not if their hp bar keeps dropping like an untrained circus acrobat the entire trash pull. If divine benison+regen isn't enough during holy spam, and even sprinkling in asylum + assize, tetra and bene doesn't work, it's either go full heal or lose the tank.

Can we please keep this thread on topic instead of derailing about tank arguments?

Just got out of a Temple of Corn run earlier while leveling an alt's mch. I like the changes so far, and I've been getting used to an actual non-clunky rotation. However the tank I had did not seem to understand that if you have Doom, get to a glowing tile. I think he understood it the first time but the second time he just sat there wailing on the boss while his timer went to 0 before sprinting and instantly keeling over 5 feet away from the tile.

I felt bad for the guy until I checked and realized how many jobs he had leveled up to 60, 70, and 80. Almost everything. My sympathies for him kinda went out the window after that for the rest of the run. I ended up comming the whm because they carried that tank fairly hard.

Flashback to my 3.X days, prior to the invention of the Orchestrion.

I'm playing WHM, which was what I started as back in 2.5, leveling it up to 60 where I get really bored at lv 53/54 and decide that I love Ravana's music SO MUCH, that I'd fight him for a little while. I ended up learning how to survive 4-5 vuln stacks during the ultimate. Good times! :,)

    On Topic:

I've been running quite a few dungeons lately with double WHM with my FC, since I leveled WHM and a friend of mine leveled PLD+WHM. It's amazingly fun to run double WHM because our tank can just wall-to-wall with little regard for their safety unless myself AND the other WHM derp up really hard. There's enough Holy, Assize, and Afflatus Misery spam to make any caster LB3 look like a small insignificant light compared to us. Not exactly the most orthodox of play but it's been highly enjoyable. Apparently, based on my FC mate's comments, we also tend to be faster than most PuG runs they've done in the same dungeon too which is uh... scary to be quite frank.
