Viera didn't blow up as big as we all thought.

Sometimes I feel weird running dungeons as a female midlander hyur. No tail... no horns... no pointy/animal shaped ears... no obvious breast augmentation...

Hyur women, along with Elezen, Lalafell, and Roegadyn, are really becoming a rare sight. Male Roegadyn too.

I've been running a lot of roulettes lately to level up, and I always encounter Viera characters. The grand majority of them are dancers. And a lot of them are minimum height. And they all got face 1 or 2. Face 4 is the least popular one; I'm guessing it's because it's not as cutesy.

I ran Labyrinth of the Ancients yesterday and literally all the dps in the party were Viera dancers. It's become such a common sight to see a Viera in dancer artifact armor that I'm actually starting to miss catgirls.

I don't see how people are saying that Viera didn't blow up. They absolutely did.

I don't think height was an issue. Minimum height Viera works for a lot of people who wanted a girly character with animal ears. The fact that Viera are extremely feminine also helps. Female Elezen are more lanky and proper, and female Roegadyn are athletic and rough. Viera may not be "smoll" like Miqo'te or Au Ra, but they hit the other checkboxes that people look for in a "waifu" race.

What's funny about this is that Viera are supposed to be this exotic rare race and races like Midlanders and Elezen are supposed to be common and well established in Eorzea. Yet, I've seen more Midlander and Elezen npcs than I have players, and Viera players are a dime a dozen.

Don't get me wrong. I like Viera and I think their design is very cool and beautiful. I made a Veena Viera which I really like and I wanted to make her an alt. I decided against it though because I didn't want her to just be another in an ocean of Viera. While I do like for my characters to be attractive, I like for them to stand out. However, because of Viera's immense popularity and limited customization options, they're starting to look the same.

It's not to say that you can't currently make a unique-looking Viera. I've seen a handful of Viera that do stand out, usually because they have skin tones and hairstyles that aren't as popular and they wear creative glamours. However, Viera in skimpy outfits are kind of everywhere.

My speculation is that the popularity of Viera will surpass Au Ra. We'll see what the census says, but I figure it'll be like this:

That depends on how often the player likes to change honestly. Speaking for myself, if I were to play a female Viera it wouldn't last very long because I like to change hairstyles often, and my favorite ones happen to be the ones youget from PvP. I changed to Hrothgar and I love the race, but I know for a fact I won't be staying one for long because two of the things I like the most are limited: Hair and headpieces.

I also feel like a lot of people don't really like the Viera combat voices, so I'm assuming the melee DPS/tank players will end up changing back, while the casters will remain as you don't hear them at all.

Do you have character physics set to full? I am not sure if it applies to ears for Viera, but mine seem pretty bouncy when I run. (That being said, shorter ears seem bouncier for some reason).

Viera are certianly taking off more than Hrothgar, i've lost count of the amount of viera i've seen around whilist I've only remember seeing a single Hrothgar.

Hrothgar are really popular on Balmung. I've had more of them in parties, and seen more roaming the world than viera. But that's just my own experience.

It must be your own experience, because Balmung is mostly bunnies right now (after cat girls ofc). I can count the number of Hrothgar I've seen on my hands and I've been out in the open world/towns quite frequently.

That's interesting and I highly doubt there's as little as you claim, but then again it could pertain to which part of the world we're in. Both are plentiful, but Hrothgar seem to show up more for me.
