Further to what Canadane said, the reason the Legacy mark is not account bound is it is to specifically identify that character as having preceeded ARR (in other words, created in 1.0 and transfered into ARR). Yoshi mentioned way back in 1.0's dying days that he would make sure that existing player characters had "some way of being identified" in the new game, and the Legacy Mark is it.

Personally I would also have liked a title to go with that (for times the mark is hidden under armour), with seperate ones for just regular 1.0 characters (say, "Meteor Survivor"), those with Legacy Membership, and those who completed 1.0's story (an before you pass judgement, no I wouldn't qualify myself for some of those), but the Legacy Mark is good enough.

The Legacy Mark is not to show you as a player as having played 1.0, it's to record and show that character as having been in FFXIV prior to the Calamity. And how it will always be (ARR has been going now for nearly 6 years, if Yoshi did have any inclination to change or add to it he would have done so by now.), so I do not see SE changing this.

Isn't the Legacy tattoo the visible mark of the protection spell of Louisoix ?

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.

I definitely agree it should be account bound. It should represent that a player was in 1.0, not just the character.

I just discovered this week that I have my character from 1.0. I hopped to a different data center to test out a Viera since my data center was filled and found my 1.0 character there.

What annoys me most is that my 1.0 character has never ever been listed as one of my characters on the Mogstation, app, or anything. So I always assumed it was attached to a different email so when I started playing 2.0 I just joined friends on the server they rolled.

But knowing I actually have access to my 1.0 character sucks, I'd love to play as her, but I can't justify 5 years and hundreds of dollars just to have my tattoo.

I guess the question, is it the character or the player behind the character? I don't remember when Potion of Fantasia was introduce but I'm sure it wasn't at 2.0 launch so those Legacy players that wanted to be Male Miqo'te or Female Roe were SOL to have their earned Legacy mark. Then all Legacy Player got their Legacy Chocobo even though that should have been tied to a character rather than player. Personally I think it's more important to recognize the Legacy Player, not just the Legacy Character.

Also all mounts can fly so logic is out the window >_>

Ive long since lost my legacy tattoo. It was a sad day when I realized it was gone. If the CHARACTER itself is the reason that we have the tattoo then it should follow you anywhere, transfers or fantasias be damned. I really do think it should be tied to account though. Much like the legacy chocobo.

I wouldn't be opposed to this is being account-bound instead of character bound.

Have you tried the /lmark command? Fantasia obviously doesn't disable it because pics in this thread show it on the new races, and I transferred my legacy to my current server once I realized she wasn't deleted even though I didn't do anything to preserve her. She still has her mark. It shouldn't be possible to lose the mark, just turn it off by accident. If so you should be able to turn it back on.

Legacy characters were allowed to edit their characters and names for free after arr launched. Fantasias existed, the mogshop didn't just yet at that point I believe. (name change required a support ticket, and we recieved an extra free fantasia)
