Games been smooth so far, only 1 or 2 ddos attacks that SE could do nothing about. On Balmung i only seen a max of 100 queue, when the server went down due to ddos attack it was 1480. I don't see why people complain when it happens once or twice, SE can't do anything if they get a ddos attack. ddos attacks are used in all major corporations, hiring hackers and messing with each other each and every day.

Either you can buy/hire to many servers for an expansion release and have to remove them after 2 months because they will simply not be needed more OR you take the 1 complaintthread and simply keep it lower knowing the numbers will go down again.

Seriously, I'm having to wait a literal hour before I can log into the game....If you cant run the traffic, buy more servers. Literally that simple.

There no point in purchasing new servers, when you only want login in only one of them, and that only.

And, even accepting your server is crowded, there is no point on make a permanent purchase of a new sister server for an issue that solves itself after some time.

Then, freeloaders have less priority queue, isn't that you trying to login with a free account? Last but not least, some claims will be good if backed up with evidence. Maybe a couple screenshot to see your claimed wait time?

It is more then likely NA issues. I was in a queue of over 1000 all week, yesterday was over 3K, and made it to half way only to get a lobby error :/
Eventually i was able to get (after like 40 mins) But ay least i have not dc'ed

I think last night was a DDoS attack or something. I haven't had issues with crashes or queues in Diabolos, but then all of a sudden everyone got booted off and everyone tried to log back in the same time (so it was a 1700+ queue for me). No server is without faults. All sorts websites and games experience issues from time-to-time.

We are back to normal queues of 19-20 on Lamia server.

THE ANSWER

Yesterday major websites such as Facebook, Instagram and others have been attacked by an organized DDoS attack day. It wasn't just limited to major websites but also to online games as well. FF14 wasn't the only one to suffer from this attack.

Unfortunately, there is very little technology available to prevent a DDoS attack, which is essentially overloading a server with a set of instructions like a ping. DDoS are usually done by infecting large amounts of computers with a virus that activates when told to do so. So you can imagine why it's difficult to isolate where it's coming from when it's coming from tens of thousands of computers world-wide, even from active players who don't know they're infected. Does that make sense?

I'm literally right at the end of Stormblood, but I keep faffing about because I don't want to tank a dungeon I don't know and that's the only class I have that's high enough level.

Ya know, I have barely any experience with other MMOs, but you would think SE, the small indie dev would have some kind of DDoS prevention. You would think they had some kind of way to gauge servers so that people who paid for the game, bought the subscription, and pre-ordered the game wouldn't have to wait in +2 hour queues.

I don't care if the game is built on a game that was a flaming trash pile. Old shortcomings can only be used as an excuse for so long, and I would think 3 damn expansions in is a pretty damn long time.

If you read a little further up they already have. The game servers aren’t directly DDoS’d anymore. What do you expect them to do when it’s Comcast, Verizon, Cox, etc equipment being attacked? As for the long queues, they’ll die down after the expansion. Anyone who decided they should go back to Aether after the split should know full well what they were getting into.
