    Is Tornado Kick rotation still viable? Or do I need to find a new monk style?

    Honest question, not looking to rant about Monk. I'm pretty stuck on the rotation that ends with Tornado Kick when you'd otherwise keep your lightning going with a Demolish. Rebuilding GL was quick when ShoulderTackle granted a stack. And it also worked as a nice crutch when Riddle of Fire or quick AOE dodges would mean GL would run out before I could throw a Demolish anyway. But obviously things have changed a bit, so I'm wondering if this rotation is still viable or if I need to change my approach.

    Can any lvl80's give some practical insight? ;p

    I've not found it viable with current skill speed and a lack of way to get to GL2+ as fast as we did with RoW double charge.

    There's some shenanigans you can do with Anatman and timing the server ticks to get a free stack of GL, but yeah have fun with that. Isn't relying on server ticks to get GL faster just so much easier and more intuitive than... well just having it on-demand? Good times.

    New opener: In Fist of Fire - Demolish - Anatman (stack once) - Dragon Kick - Twin Snakes - Riddle of Fire - Snap Punch - Brotherhood - Forbidden Chakra - Bootshine - Perfect Balance - Dragon Kick - Bootshine -Elixir Field - Shoulder Tackle Demolish - Shoulder Tackle - Twin Snakes -Dragon Kick - Bootshine - True Strike - Fist of Wind - Snap Punch - Dragon Kick.

    Once you have 1200 SkS your looping combo changes to have two True Stikes before re upping Twin Snakes

    The last time a mechanic like this existed, the devs patched it out within 1 or 2 patch cycles. Around the time Brayflox HM came out, the Black Mage rotation was Flare Transpose mana tic wait 2 seconds flare flare transpose mana tic wair 2 flare flare, rinse, repeat. It relied on abusing server tics to get extra mana immediately after you swap from UI1 to AF3 with flare and it definitely got killed fast.

    If there's an exploit to get a free stack of greased lightning by abusing the server, the devs will eventually notice and fix it.

    Ty ty. Opener is good to know. I'm always hesitant to rely on PB because of the timer, wish it was just 'next 5 weaponskills'. But think it's just my SkS. I'm at 1000 not 1200. Which is also why I keep reverting to Tornado Kick rotation because outside of the striking dummy I'm never quite able to complete the basic combo with the two True Strikes.

    Hmm. I guess Leaden Fist turns Bootshine into the Tornado Kick of the rotation in terms of damage. The difference is probably made up from not losing GL and it being a guaranteed Crit. Maybe works out better in the end. I guess I'll live.

    You HAVE to stay in GL4 just to get your speed up to where it was in Stormblood end-game. So you're not going faster, just taking an extra three GCDs to get to the same speed, which is horrendous.

    It's pretty offensive to me that MNK has its skill speed taken away on all its endgame weapons and gear, except for one ring, but SAM gets SkS on its weapon. Um, what!? MNK is being slowed down and that's horrible. People wanted GL4 because they wanted to go faster, not this...

    Looping rotation needs to be in GL4 along with 1200 SkS in order for you to have the optimal looping rotation. However opener is mostly done in FoF.

    Optimal Looping rotation in GL4 w/ ~1200 SkS you can get two True Strikes for every Twin Snakes.
