I honestly thought that the Amaro would be obtained through the MSQ, seeing as it was prominently featured in the trailers, and it's found literally everywhere all over the new zones, NPCs themselves talk about how common they are. They also are a main plot point for some stuff (no spoilers) and yet.... nothing? We always get a mount from MSQ, why is it different now?

Not just that, but the requirements themselves. I, among others in this thread and many more besides, don't have time to get every single job up to 80. Nor do I have the inclination to play the crafting jobs, because they're just not fun to me. Why should I have to in order to get the common chocobo of this expansion? Not that it's not a great mount, mind you. It's fantastic and I want one very much!

But the requirements are wayyy too much. I'm seriously disappointed.

Wait, all roles or all classes? If it's all roles then I have little problem with it... but if it's all classes then yeah that's bad.

That does make me sad I really want one but tanking scares me. I’ve only leveled mine by squads, fates, or Leves..

Amaro should of been MSQ. Leveling up all jobs would be better suited to a less common mount in the firsts lore. Im pissed.

all duty of war and magic classes to 80

or to say it the long way, you need to level Paladin, Warrior, Dark Knight, Gunbraker, White Mage, Scholar, Astrologian, Monk, Dragoon, Ninja, Samurai, Bard, Machinist, Dancer, Black Mage, AND red mage to level 80, you do NOT have to level blue mage or the Hand or the Land.

For the most part I'm loving the expansion so far, but there are a few absolutely baffling decisions made by the dev team. This is one of them.

It's an amaro. It's not Twintania or a pegasus. Amaro(s?) are as ubiquitos for travel in the First as chocobos are in the Source. There are a bunch of them up on a hill in Il Mheg just chilling. This isn't some rare or legendary beast, and an amaro mount should be an MSQ reward or a post-MSQ sidequest reward or etc.

And on the flipside: you level ALL combat classes to 80, and all you get is a regular amaro? No effects, no extra lore, no mount based on some legendary creature no one has seen in a thousand years? Just a regular amaro?

From both sides of the coin, this is dumb.

I believe they're going to be the glowy/shiny dragon that's posted in the patchnotes! They'll just be variations in colors of course.

Yeah, my thoughts as well. It's... almost insulting to the folks who go out of their way to do all that work? It'd be like getting an unarmored basic yellow chocobo for something similar. Thanks... I guess?

I really wanted one of them too,

I found it odd that my choco was able to be taken with me to the first. I was really expecting to get one of them as a "sorry but your chocobos is back on the Source, please have this odd cool looking flying thing in its place"

With that requirement, and the 1-2 years of grinding needed to accomplish it. the mount should do FAR more than just run and fly.
It might be worth it if the Amaro could:
    1. Fly at up to 100 times as fast as any other mount (with continuously-variable speed.)
    2. Fly in ALL zones, including new ones, without the need to quest and collect things.
    3. Carry passengers, including a permanent extra retainer, (free).
    4. Provide free teleports to any Aetherite.
