You gross 200 Million in subscriptions a month why are your servers junk?

I'm so sick of threads like these. Especially considering the ffxiv team went through so much work, and possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars, to move data centers around and create new servers, leading to one of the smoothest and stablest launches to an mmo expansion ever, only for people to complain and complain (in a really rude way mind you) about being disconnected once or twice.

News flash, it's an mmo expansion launch. These things happen. They did everything in their power to make it smooth and they did a damned good job as far as I'm conserned.

Game wasn't designed to horizontally scale. Can't just throw more servers at the problem and think it will actually work.

I have 9 years of experience and a 4 year degree, I've stood hundreds of companies up from the ground up from all types of companies.

You don't even show up in the spectrum of knowledge to even begin to tell me what I do and don't understand.

yes literally, getting more servers and spreading the traffic among them will Literally fix the problem.

Good news, because to run 30 more servers with SSD's 32GB of server ram and Xeon Processors 3.5Ghz AND 1GBS of upload speed is only.....

(drum roll.....) 4,950 dollars a monthhhh. Which isn't even 3% of the monthly earnings YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

I don't know, up until that one ddos attack everything ran beautifully on Crystal. No disconnects, or crazy duty bottlenecks. All in all I think this launch was the smoothest and best one yet. SE's done a great job. It's not their fault the player base decided to dog pile onto Aether and Primal because they don't want to catch an imaginary disease from rpers. Over on Crystal it's great here. Plenty of room for more people even.

Its an MMO, that has not once in its history had a successful launch regarding traffic. Even from 1.0, its been almost 10 years and in all those years not once have they had the tech to handle a launch.

This is exactly why nobody stays around, they play for a week figure out the servers are garbage and move on to a another company that CAN handle the game. That is exactly why the player counts fall off the face of the earth the first week because people who play other MMO's can you know...

This xpac has been almost problem free for me. I guess some don't remember SB's release. Interesting to see how the servers deal with opening day tomorrow.

My mind seems set on my solution because its the correct solution. I ask people why because they are folding and accepting of the behaviors of prior launches. I decline any answer that isn't an actual solution. Since most people here don't understands what actually goes into running servers and how servers work they blindly accept the garbage that's been presented and accept it because its just ole square at it again and its the same as the last patch.

You right now because you don't know is exactly why this thread was made in the first place, to inform you that there is literally no excuse for how bad the servers are. To also inform you that you are just simply accepting things the way they are, they put a price tag on your game with the intent to 'maintain the servers' but literally they haven't.

you should be angry, and upset. You don't have to hate the game, you don't have to hate the developers, you don't have to hate anyone to be upset.

I'm here simply putting it out into the open that square's excuses are nothing more then just that. We deserve a better launch, we deserve more for our money.

well thats the thing. i have nothing to hate from FF14 staff, iam one of those people who has 90% problem free with this expac. the only time i got DC is actually yesterday, i got DC for no reason despite my net is fine, but thats all, i log back in and everything is well.

aside from the usual player queue login i have almost nothing to complain. so saying your solution is correct when there is no problem for me and some people is weird.

Uh it's not the same as the last launch, lol. I bet you weren't there for it

Also name at least one company who has gone as far as Square has to improve their servers from what they were.
