I wanted to add that I completely agree with the OP. SCH needs some major dps rework, because even if SE doesn't want us to DPS, they can't force us not to unless they remove every single dps ability. So link it to healing in some way if they want us to heal more--just please give us some fun back on SCH!
Not to mention you're more likely to get people in your group that know nothing of the dungeon mechanics as well as a quite a few people playing new roles or at least Jobs. Particularly with GNB, you definitely have people who've never tanked but are drawn to the class fantasy queuing and aren't as conscious about cooldowns and such.
Back in Stormblood, I clearly remember healing in the original expert roulette dungeons was higher during the first couple of weeks then gradually fell off noticeably with time.
Completely agree with the OP.
I would also add the following:
- SCH feels really weak for the first couple of pulls in a dungeon due to combat-only Aetherflow. Other healer jobs have the entirity of their kit available for use but SCH is limited in what they can do unless they are either ahead on Aetherflow or have some Faerie Gauge accumulated.
- Aetherflow actions used during Dissipation do not contribute to Faerie Gauge, which is incredibly underwhelming.
- Without an offensive Aetherflow dump or some form of compensation for unused Aetherflow charges, it feels like SCH is encouraged to be wasteful with healing abilities, which is poor job design.
The more that the job design of healers shifts away from their damage kits in favour of additional healing cooldowns, the less interesting healing becomes. We have too many healing tools at our disposal (collectively as healers) and encounters that only throw an instance of AoE damage at the party every 30 seconds or so. It really makes it noticeable that you're only spamming Broil/Ruin II.
Best healer feedback post I've seen yet. Way to list the positives as well as the negatives. Hopefully this gets noticed by SE.
I just started leveling SCH today and have a big gripe the moment I ran my first dungeon: The fairy is now basically an "always-on" pre-pull regen that I can't turn off.
Tank pulls, takes a sliver of damage, immediate Embrace causes all non-tagged enemies to immediately come smack me, making the pull more annoying for the tank and taking half my HP.
Unless I'm missing something, short of hoping an Adlo pre-pull is big enough until everything is picked up or unsummoning, there's nothing I can do to prevent this.
They really just need to make regens not generate enmity. Half the time adds spawn and go straight for the healer even if they haven't done anything, just because a regen is ticking on someone.
