We have to have all our crafters and stuff to 80 to get the mount?
I really liked the lore and everything behind them. The fact they bond with their riders, and may eventually talk.
I don't think this mount is worth that amount of effort nonetheless. Maybe if it was something more shiny..![]()

I must have read it wrong, that's not too bad. Can probably get that passively, eventually, if I'm bored. I still don't think the mount is 'shiny' enough to be worth it as an achievement mount, and I kind of feel robbed to an extent considering their story impact.

I mean it's not a hunt mount (Orz lol), but I think OP, and to be honest myself too, is coming from the context each expansion we've received a free mount that we road quite a bit earlier in the quest chain. Especially for example the Yol from Stormblood (giant bird, hippogryph thing), and the Magitek Walker from ARR - both of which were very cool mounts. We did also get the Black Chocobo from Heveansward but I can't really recall if we rode that for quests or not (and legacy / draught > black chocobo), certainly the Yol and Magitek were introduced early on in MSQ content first like the Amaro though.
So to me I actually felt like Amaro fell perfectly in line with Yol and Magitek feelings. Also I think getting all jobs to 80 could be a bit of a spiffy-er mount than just Amaro (like I said maybe colored or big boy variant). I guess, to me, it just misses expectations in a few places. Is that end of the world? Hardly, even OP just said they're salty - they're not going to quit and they're not raging.. but it does just feel a bit "amiss" and surprising (in the non-good way). SE doesn't "owe us" a change, but I do think it would be super cool if they might consider making that level 80 achievement a bit grander and baking the normal Amaro we've already rode into something else that's more in line with how Yol and Magitek Walker felt.
Perhaps they could even make it so all 80 DoW / DoM earns you a grand Amaro (big Seto like, perhaps with a few extra details) and then if you have all DoH and DoL at 80 (on top of all DoW / DoM) then you're rewarded with a colored / further enhanced version.
Anyway, am not mad (not a big deal lol) but it just doesn't sound as expected / normal and while I doubt SE would change it.. I think it would be neat if they did.

The black chocobos were the only domesticated ones that were bred and trained to fly. The company chocobo had to unlock its flight through a quest chain.I mean it's not a hunt mount (Orz lol), but I think OP, and to be honest myself too, is coming from the context each expansion we've received a free mount that we road quite a bit earlier in the quest chain. I only added the legacy / draught part as a reason why I couldn't remember much about them :P, since it's a breed of bird that I already have a better (imo) bird for. "here's your new black chocobo" me: "but.. I have a huge draught chocobo and a legacy bird... I will remember you hardly dear black chocobo" lol. I remember Yol and Magitek because they're both quite neat, similarly I think Amaro is neat (and unique to my list of owned mounts).
I did know they were the first flying mount (specially trained to fly), but "what we did with them".. no memory lol.![]()

It's unfortunate to hear that it's not something you get from the MSQ. I resigned to playing just GNB, DRG, and RDM after the changes made most of the classes, so I don't plan on healing ever again. And some classes I just flat out do not want to play ever. Guess I won't be getting it, since I'm not one of those players that has to have everything at max level.
I'm inclined to go for the coolest mount that's easy to get, so I guess I'll be skipping this Amaro mount in favor of the unicorn I already have.
She's got a chicken to ri-ide, she's got a chicken to ri-i-ide...
She's got a chicken to ride, this game's from Square!
The Amaro mount has it's own unique theme apparently, making it a great addition to mount roulette as well as the appeal of it's somewhat rare nature.
