I thought using Fantasia merely GAVE you the option to change character data and you could use that option only once, but whenever you felt like it, not actually FORCE you to do it.

Fantasia does. They are talking about a name change, however.

Man, I was hoping at the very least they would give us a basic point of origin for the names... Hopefully the name generator will provide that or something. This is a HUGE bummer though, I was looking forward to brainstorming names during the downtime.

Agreed, at this point due to the way it forces you to do your name change before the fantasia, I'll have to create a new character, look at names using the name generator (hopefully they're updated), then switch to my actual character and put in the name I decide on.

I just went to a name generator and set it to Icelandic. If it worked for XII, it'll hopefully worked here.

It’s possible my post will age poorly in the next 10 minutes, but in regards to FFXII viera, they had Icelandic accents, not Icelandic names. You should probably get inspiration from the random name generator by making an alt instead.

The names linked above seem correct, now that the early access is out. The Hrothgar names are generally Slavic or pseudo-Slavic. I gambled on [Old Norse given name] [Danish surname] and lost. Oh well!

I too will need to change again to something ending in asch. XD
But my first name change was for free when we had free world transfers so there's that.
