Welp... I was wrong:
so yeah... banging head on keyboard while the new client downloads will be the start of early access for us ;_;Migration from the 32-bit Mac® version to 64-bit
Support for the 32-bit Mac® version will end with the start of early access for Shadowbringers. Read the regarding details regarding the 64-bit version.
starts refreshing lodestone feverishly
thanks! .....
A fast download of the client - probably because nobody else is hammering the download servers as this does not contain the Shadowbringers expansion content yet. Will have to download that when it gets released!
Hyperlinks in the game launcher work correctly - no more causing the launcher to hang.
Now it's just a matter of waiting like everyone else for the patch to drop.
[update]
The game settings are no longer hidden in your Library but instead in a new "My Games" folder that is created in your documents folder so that means its easier to locate and backup.
I get it downloaded and installed and get to the normal login point (right before it would do updates), but when I try to login I get this message:
Anyone else hitting this? I thought it was just failing do to the servers being updated for the EXP, but it sounds like others are getting past that? @Bearded? Maybe I misinterpreted the last post...FFXIV Launcher Error

UPDATE:
I killed it and started it back up. logged in and it worked fine!

Do we have to delete the old Mac Client or does the new one overwrite. Just don't want to have 2 versions of the game taking up storage space

Requiring only the latest macos release, Mojave, is really bad. They should at least support High Sierra, which isn't that old. If the new client is still just a WINE port, there's no good reason for this, and even if it's a proper native app now, there's no good reason for it.
I just started playing FFXIV this month, and it already looks like I'll have to stop playing it.
