It's kind of silly that this isn't a feature already.
I was going to change to Viera but then realised I'd have to buy all the gender-locked gear again so I decided against it.
Yuna and Tidus' outfits have no achievement attached to them. You can swap those outfits at your leisure~gender gear in game should be tradeable for the other yes. Mogstation? no, they want you to buy one or the other (or both). Also stuff at the calamity salvager is tied to achievements, and since there is no achievement for buying gear from the mogstation the game does not "know" that you have it, and warns you against discarding it. they would need to create a system to track such things and currently this does not exist.
not to say that it won't in future but anything mogstation i don't think you'll ever see an equivalent gender gear swap for free.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
I support. While I personally won’t ever have such an issue, it should still be a feature in game for others that changes gender.
This is one of the reasons ( other then some of them having crazy asking price ) that i have never bought any outfits from the mog station, you change your character from male to female or other way around > many of those outfits just became a waste of money.
Thanks for the empathy!
Can you trade those? I can't find it in the Calamity Salvager. It would certainly be really strange to have those ones but not the rest.
But they DID get our money. Twice. Once for the gear, and once for a gender change. Why shouldn't the outfits (such as songbird) that cannot be worn by the other gender be swapped for the gender-alternative?
I would support a direct exchange for those items which have a direct male/female equivalent on the Mogstation. Its not like they can be traded and switching genders should enable a direct switch but I doubt they'l do it even though it is allowed for other in game/event items.
Simple enough fix for that. You can either set up the icon to reflect the gendered appearance, or use a split icon that shows both.As I said in the other thread, it does mean you don't have icons looking nothing like the female version of the gear. (eg. you'd have to remember the giant princess ballgown looks like the prince's tunic on the icon.) It's more user-friendly to have the icons actually resemble the item you're trying to spot in your inventory. Though obviously having the option to swap them if needed is also valuable - just not encountered "day-to-day" so much.
I also suspect it's for the purpose of padding out the list of items crafters have to make.
Part of the reason why I think I'll /never/ switch the gender of my character, because I've collected gear for one gender already and don't want to bother losing it as an option. Funnily most of it I don't even intend to wear, just the thought of not being able to use it anymore is enough to kill the idea for me anyways though lol.
Definitely I think all gear that has a counterpart should be convert-able somewhere, perhaps as a new both crafter and NPC feature (like how materia/repair works). Mogshop related items might be messy though, perhaps their data shows very few buy both genders (in which case allowing this change for even that is just more good faith points/value and not a huge loss). If many people buy both then I doubt they'll voluntarily give it up.
Maybe for the mogshop seasonal sold type items you can convert them if you have the achievement related to the seasonal event (and I've always thought when that season comes by they should sell bundles of the event, so perhaps this new bundle can include the achievement)
