Am I the only one who believes the DDoS attacks are complete bs? I seriously believe SE just doesnt want to fork up for better servers. I dont understand why anyone would put in so much effort for absolutely no returns on said effort. Also, Im pretty sure there are methods to cancel out DDoS attacks almost entirely. My router has DDoS prevention. I used it to stop a chinese guy from DDoSing a server I hosted once. I banned him from the server for being a trashy human being and he got upset and started attacking. I really do hope I'm wrong about this. I just find it hard to trust SE these days. Why can't billionaire corporations combat a few people pushing in lots of network traffic in?
Possible revenge thing, maybe, SE did just dish out an attempt at clamping down on them and rolled out new report features specifically for reporting RMT related activities and advertisements.
Where's the fun in that? I particularly think it was those crazy Ultima Online folks at it again!

Sometimes it is DDoS, pretty sure a couple instances were very much proven, helped by atleast one of them being a group that was attacking multiple other companies around the same time frame. Other times its a "DDoS" AKA "a LOT of people are getting on and thus causing a situation exactly like a DDoS."Am I the only one who believes the DDoS attacks are complete bs? That said right now there doesn't seem to be anything happening, SE would have said something by now even if it was to cover themselves like you are suggesting they do.

Its not as easy as you make it sound to stop a DDOS. A certain group who's name I wont say comprised of 4 or 5 guys used a bot network to crash xbox, playstation and a variety of other game servers. When they did it, it was not just their home computers sending out packets they had thousands of machines sending packets out in high volume.Am I the only one who believes the DDoS attacks are complete bs? Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
Not sure if this has to do with the recent influx of recent players joining Cerberus last two weeks is the server that has been closed for character creation earlier on Chaos DC.
Non official census based on lodestone counted almost 14.4k active characters on Cerberus and Moogle without taking into account the new characters created by recent players in this June.
Right now Cerberus and Moogle might be the servers with highest active characters on Chaos DC.
As of now:
Not sure if it has to do with being near to reach it's full server capability.

It's not BS. And it doesn't take much effort to conduct a DDoS. A small group of people or even an individual and successfully pull off a DDoS.Am I the only one who believes the DDoS attacks are complete bs? And to give you more context... In WoW's prime when it was most popular, Blizzard was forced to fend off a LOT of DDoS attacks. Sometimes loser "script kiddies" just want to watch the world burn and they choose a stage that gets the most attention... like a wildly popular MMO.
Former WoW player here.
Why the hate and conspiracy regarding WoW's playerbase? I started to play this game 4 months ago and the amount of hate I have seen in the forums and in-game is worrying. I mean, its community ain't perfect, I know, but it feels like you have something against it.
