And this is the kind of request and mindset that makes people dislike the male viera supporters even more. If you ask for content to be sacrificed for the other genders, you're going the wrong way.
So it amounts to "I prefer things I want added." Fair enough, but I would like to see male Viera added. However, you mention content that they would in practice never really sacrifice in the first place. I see a lot of people do this. It's not content on the margins. If anything, they would sooner lower gear output than that, but let's consider that the investment could well pay for itself (and should, if they design the missing genders to be appealing enough), much like the two current ones being added were added on an expectation of heightened profits. So, they potentially need not slow down their pace at all. The thing it would probably cost is more manpower but before SE is going to make that investment I imagine they will want to see 1) how well ShB does and 2) how profitable the new races have proven.Because I'd personally prefer they focus the team on creating more quality content for us (raids/dungeons/etc) which will help retain the increased playerbase which will come with the release of ShB, rather than wasting those resources and time on creating alternate sexes for the races.
Also, no offence to those who got what they wanted, but for me, the new races don't really add too much because I don't intend to play either option added. So, whilst I'm happy for those who got what they wanted, the value to me as a consumer is very limited, so not sure why I should just "be happy" with what was added.
I fully expect, though, that they will weigh it against the benefit of updating character customisation and the textures more broadly, because the latter especially could do wonders for enhancing the game's longevity and also ease the addition of the missing genders, if they can crack the nut of efficiently converting the assets as intended.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:
I mean I hate to use the "they started it" move, but literally they came into the thread saying "I don't want your requests to be catered to because I want my requests to be catered to" Forgive me if I want to find some common ground with the people who think that way by offering up the bland grind, that locked behind a bunch of desired cosmetics behind RNG boxes, that most of the playerbase ignored after anemos as a sacrificial lamb /shrug
So you resort to childish antics and tell people that content needs to be sacrificed for the other genders? Wrong approach.I mean I hate to use the "they started it" move, but literally they came into the thread saying "I don't want your requests to be catered to because I want my requests to be catered to" Forgive me if I want to find some common ground with the people who think that way by offering up the bland grind, that locked behind a bunch of desired cosmetics behind RNG boxes, that most of the playerbase ignored after anemos as a sacrificial lamb /shrug
My own stance has not changed. If they add the missing genders? Great. If not? Oh well. In itself the missing genders are not enough to sour me on the game. The premise of the expansion and revealed content is practically guaranteed to keep me invested so long as it is equal to or greater than either Heavensward or Stormblood.
I doubt that we'll see anything until 6.0 at the earliest. The development team work on a very tight schedule already and the increase of active players is going to have them doubling down on their current work load.
Quite a lot of people went through the full Eureka experience, though. Even right not all four of the maps are bustling with activity - and that's just on Crystal.I mean I hate to use the "they started it" move, but literally they came into the thread saying "I don't want your requests to be catered to because I want my requests to be catered to" Forgive me if I want to find some common ground with the people who think that way by offering up the bland grind, that locked behind a bunch of desired cosmetics behind RNG boxes, that most of the playerbase ignored after anemos as a sacrificial lamb /shrug
It's like Female Roegadyn and Male Miqo'te, anyone against male Viera is on the wrong side of what the devs ultimately want. We have more proof towards adding the missing genders than not, this is factual, not opinion.

On this occasion though the issue was specifically framed that way, i.e. the poster stated they don't want male Viera added because content would be slowed or cut as a result. That could happen depending on how SE go about it, but 1) the way in which they prioritise which content to develop means not everything is as likely to see development on it halted (raids and dungeons, for example, are not at all likely candidates) and they're likely to rationalise this on the cost-benefit of the feature in question and 2) it can be readily circumvented by increasing the game's budget, especially if adding the missing genders would prove profitable.
So my advice to those wanting the missing genders added is that it'd be best to simply redirect the discussion to those points, rather than arguing on the premise that something must be cut.
I'm always intrigued as to why Eureka comes up first. Yes, it was unpopular when it opened, but the changes made following Pagos have improved player engagement with it significantly.

At least we can still be handsome Hyur men, Theodric. All is not lost. Maybe we can get a handsome WoD beard as a consolation prize. My own stance has not changed. If they add the missing genders? I hope we aren't accused of attacking people because a disagreement happened again lol Disagreement = targeted attacks apparently
Well, I'll be honest and and say I did ask them "why" on purpose. If someone comes in here bluntly saying "no", I'll just ask why. If they elaborate, maybe someone could offer their perspective. That's just my thinking, anyway. If that's an attack, then I don't even know man
Yep. Hyur are great! I'm mostly waiting on completing the MSQ in 5.0 to figure out which flavour of Hyur (Hume?) I want to play next. I quite like Raen/Xaela too so that's something else I can fall back on as an additional option.
...and yes, that stubble really needs to be added as an option. Especially with the benchmark teasing it.
