    I used to get these errors constantly, and then stopped for about two months or so. Now I'm getting them regularly again. I've tried the internet explorer/port range fix in the past but usually for me, it's only a temporary fix. I'm going to try and do it again, but I'd love a more permanent fix if anyone knows one. Unfortunately I play on a laptop currently so I can't really hook this up to my modem.

    I was getting DC'd randomly for a while, but I read on another thread about this that Avast Antivirus can be causing it somehow. The OP said he uninstalled the antivirus and afterwards didn't have any problems. I tried it and so far it seems to have worked.

    I use that antivirus so I'm testing it now they same way. I'll let you know!

    Any idea on what's causing it for people who don't use Avast? I use webroot and still experience the DCs with it and without it running. I also have changed my Internet Explorer settings and opened the port ranges necessary, but neither of those worked for me this time around.

    When you mean 'without it running' do you mean disabled or just closed? If you just close the window it's still running in the background. I would suggest temporarily uninstalling it and then trying the game.

    I can confirm this is a problem with the data centers where FFXIV is hosted just outside of Frankfurt, Germany. We get a lot of packet losses to the Chaos 195.82.50.9:

    C:\Users\xxxx>ping -n 100 195.82.50.9

    Pinging 195.82.50.9 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 195.82.50.9: bytes=32 time=42ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.82.50.9: bytes=32 time=49ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.82.50.9: bytes=32 time=50ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.82.50.9: bytes=32 time=45ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.82.50.9: bytes=32 time=48ms TTL=55
    Request timed out.
    Reply from 195.82.50.9: bytes=32 time=48ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.82.50.9: bytes=32 time=46ms TTL=55
    We are on Deutsche Telekom 175Mbit connection. Pinging google servers for example, are not subject to packet losses. We are using Deutsche Telekom's normal DNS servers. Changing to 1.1.1.1 or google's 8.8.8.8 doesn't affect the loss of packet against Chaos 195.82.50.9.
